Hello all. I just want to consult using my below scenario.

I'm currently working and I have a multiple entry stamp (see photo) attached to my non-B visa. It's valid until 15 August 2019.

I'm resigning from work on 13 August and I'm flying on that day to Phnom Penh, Cambodia  to apply for a tourist visa at the Thai embassy.

My flight to Bangkok, Thailand is scheduled on 16 August. The air ticket has been booked already.

QUESTION: In your opinion, will I be able to get a tourist visa if I apply on 13th, considering that I have a non-B visa with multiple entry stamp that is still valid until 15th?

I would really appreciate if you can share your thoughts, especially if you personally experienced this in past or you know someone who was in the same situation.

Constructive comments are highly appreciated. Thank you.

The way you're supposed to do it is upon termination of your contract, you go to the labour department to get a receipt cancelling your WP, and then onto immigration to cancel your visa. If you consider ever working in the Kingdom again, just skipping out like this would leave a remark in the system and make it difficult to be employed again.

Actually you do not have a valid non-b visa. You have a extension of stay issued by immigration and a re-entry permit to keep it valid when enter the country.

You should not a have a problem applying for a tourist visa. But Phnom Penh is not the best place to do it. You may not have your tourist visa by your planned departure date. It can take at least 3 days to get one.

The correct way is to have your extension of stay formally canceled before leaving the country at immigration. If you plan on working here again not having it canceled could cause problems when you apply for another extension of stay.

With a termination letter from your employer you could go to immigration to have it canceled and they would post date the cancelation to the date on the letter.

@ubonjoe I believe that after cancelling, you will also be issued a 7 day visa to leave the country. Is that correct?

It would be 7 days to leave the country after applying for a extension, paying the 1900 baht fee and having it denied.

The free 7 days to leave went away many years ago.

That is I why I suggested going to immigration early to have his extension canceled and it being posted dated.
