And if one can't wait for one month to receive his username & password?

Not necessary 'one month'. It all depends.

Even if the registration process was easy(which its not), The only thing this process is good for is to remind everyone that they are living under military control and all their movements are being monitored.

Nothing wrong with living under 'military control' unless you have something to worry about. And the 'registration process' is easy. Stop making siht up.

My wife visited Udonthani Immigration Office on Monday 01 July with a TM30 duly filled out and signed after we returned home late on Friday 28th June from a UK holiday and was informed for the second time (she also asked before we went on holiday) that Udonthani Immigration does not require this and only if we change address permanently.

Just in case I will keep the TM30 form; which she has written in Thai on the form what they said after she tried to give it to the office.

TM 30 is an mess, almost impossible to follow. I would be very happy if this could be cleared out once for all.

Is it possible ThaiVisa can talk to someone top ranking Immigration officer, with no money in mind. It´s not an easy task ????

Because what I have heard, the TM30 is just for the first (!) address entering the country! And have to be done everytime, even if you are on work permit, retirement or marrried visa. Also have come to my knowledge, if you return to same address and are the legal owner, you do not need to register! This could help us living in buildings, with legal foreign title.

As mentioned, it is a mess and some really high ranking officials should clearly specify the rules, by the law. Not by the likes from individual Immigration officers around Thailand. Because, we all know this is an income for people working within Thai Immigration.

Rubbish!

You won't find a facsimile of Thailand, granted.

And I have done the legwork, unlike yourself.

How long have you lived in Thailand?  _______ Me got here first time 68 and lived continuously 15 years.

How long have you lived in Vietnam?  _______ Me two years.

I did tm30 only because I needed the certificate of address for the driving license.

I asked the landlord for copy of ID, copy of housebook and a 1month contract, went to Phuket IO and did everything myself.

Got receipt of 90day report too. Got CoA, applied for the DL, all good.

Second time did TM30 after going to penang, now registered at my wife's house.

Showed copy id, copy house book, and copy of my yellow house book and marry certificate (just in case).

The wonderful IO registered her in the system as a user, and gave me a 90day report slip.

Later I just used the online form, where i input EXACTLY the same address as shown in the receipt, and it just works. after 5-8 days i get email and can print the receipt myself.

Changed many houses, travelled to songkla, never did any other tm30.

IO's at phuket say only need to register(do TM30) when re-entering the country, even if address is same.

For 90day report, if address is same (although not real, nobody cares), just do online or bring only passport.

Looks like the band of corrupt crime fighters are trying to increase their business stream even further, whilst actively discourage Thais from allowing foreigners to use their accommodation perhaps.

Yes, of course. Complain when they are going by the law, and complain when they don´t. Also do not never ever miss to complain when they are using different interpretation in different places. Good Job!

It is a very clever plan, actually.

Foreigners must be reported. For that owner's ID and rental agreement must be presented, which state monthly rental amount. This data is then passed to revenue department to check if owners are paying 12.5% tax on the rental income. Most aren't and I've seen a sudden surge of condos for sale with tenant, many urgently. I also know of cases of people fined upwards of half a million baht for renting out without paying taxes, which all started with a TM30 report. Interesting times.

There is no requirement for the owner to show a rental contract, its blue book and ID. The 12.5% tax was only ever levied on land office registered leases and will no longer exsist, being replaced with the new land taxes.

This law has been around for years. Why do foreigners continue to complain about Thailand yet refuse to leave?

Yes that right, I recall my wife (then GF) doing a TM30 6 years ago when I first moved into her house.

Its not whether its required, it is required by law. Its whether the local immigration office will check if it has been done before they process an extension or 90 day report.

Don't go to the Immigration office to do a 90 day report and go home for an O-A every other year.  Solved!

Note that you must not complain, according to some posters.????

Complaining is fine.  Complaining about things one has no control over or that don't exist makes little sense.  I don't get checked at my 90 day report because I have a taxi driver do my report and last week at my yearly retirement extension they didn't ask me for one and never have.

I left, and that was after 34 years in Thailand, most years on Non-B and work permit, some periods employing 3000 Thais in my companies.

Obviously not successfully as you left and run back to the bosom of Mother Socialist - and worse still blaming others for your ineptitude- are you related to the Trump

I think you will find many are, bound for Vietnam and Cambodia where it's less hostile!

You do realise that Vietnam has even more restrictive laws on registration of foreigners, and recently have been cracking down on those who fail to do so?  A former colleague of mine, working in Saigon, was invited to stay at the house of a Vietnamese workmate in Haiphong during Tet this year.  Someone reported it to local police, and both were fined 5,000,000 VND.

"Many foreigners stay for quite a long time in Vietnam and do not register their stay until they are asked by police officer then pay expensive fine. These people again blame on the landlord and other agents for not reminding them to do temporary resident registration. According to Vietnamese law, foreigners must register their stay wherever they spend night(s) in Vietnam".

Foreigners who stay overnight at the private houses of citizens shall have to personally or through house owners make a temporary residence declaration with the police offices of wards or communes where they temporarily reside. The ward or commune police offices will then be required to transfer the contents of temporary residence declarations by foreigners to the immigration bodies under the public security offices of the provinces or centrally run cities.

https://vietnamvisavoa.com/en/temporary-residence-registration-for-foreigners-in-vietnam-a16

The penalty ranges from a small fine of 500,000 - 5,000,000 VND up to cancellation of your visa and deportation.
