Dog-sitting in Bangkok - any tips?

Featured Replies

I'm looking after a friends dog for a few days - a delightful, calm small dog - but I hadn't realised what a dog-unfriendly city Bangkok is until now.

I have some green space next to the condo, and a supply of poop-bags, but I can't think of anywhere else we can go?

Parks, malls, restaurants all seem to have 'no-dog' rules.

Where do people take their dogs in the city - or are they mostly indoor pets?

Just be careful the soi dogs don't get him/her...they are savages

Whereabouts in Bangkok are you?
Did you meet or interact with the dog at your friend's house/condo before this dogsitting shift? Maybe it's used to chilling at home and the occasional short walk.

Central business district - I'd spent a weekend with her and owner beforehand.

She's walks to heel, and I pick her up when I see soi dogs.

She's not super active and is happy around the condo, but I thought it would be nice to take her out - as she's a friendly 'people dog'.

She sounds like a nice dog, and lucky to have you taking care of her. Keep the casual walks and picking her up near strays. I wouldn't go overboard trying to give her extra trips, as this is more likely to cause problems than have a real benefit.
