SAO PAULO/RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - A bloody clash between two prison gangs on Monday left at least 57 inmates dead with 16 of them decapitated, authorities in the state of Para said, the latest deadly clash as Brazil’s government struggles to control the country’s overcrowded jails.

Australia says U.S. plans to build military infrastructure

SYDNEY (Reuters) - The United States is planning to build additional military infrastructure in Australia once Congress gives approval to the U.S. Navy for $211.5 million, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne said on Tuesday.

State agencies urged to be more open to seeing-eye dogs

After listening to a visually-impaired person’s complaint about her guide dog not being allowed into state offices and other public sites, Bangkok Governor Pol General Aswin Kwanmuang said he would coordinate with related agencies and public parks about easing access for the disabled.

Moody's, Fitch update outlook on Thai banks

Moody's Investor Services has affirmed the long-term local and foreign currency deposit ratings of KasikornBank (Kbank), Krung Thai Bank (KTB) and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) at Baa1, and those of CIMB Thai Plc (CIMBT) and Standard Chartered Bank(Thai) Plc or SCBT at Baa2.

Provinces declares dengue fever emergency

The northeastern province of Si Sa Ket on Tuesday declared that the prevention and control of dengue fever had become an issue requiring urgent attention throughout its area. Health chiefs said they were especially concerned about what will happen during the latter stages of the traditional rainy season.
