Visa Options - Child with woman who works in Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have been frequenting The Kingdom for a few years now, mostly on TVs, however, I now find myself in a strange situation.

Early next year I will have a child in Thailand (fortunately I am not the one giving birth).

The mother is not a Thai national (not from SEA at all for that matter) and has chosen to have the baby in Bangkok as she works for a company there.

I typically spend 6 months a year in Thailand, but would like to spend more time in the country going forward.

My stays are usually disrupted as I choose to spend 4 weeks in, 1 week out.

The mother (along with child obviously) plans to stay in Thailand for the foreseeable future.

She is on a Non-B with a WP.

Is there any sort of visa I have recourse to in this situation?

We will not be getting married, however, I do intend to sign the birth cert.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers ????

There is no visa or extension you can get until your child starts attending school is on an extension of stay based upon that. Then you could get a non-o visa and a extension of stay for being her father. You would need 500k baht in a Thai bank for 30 days for the first and then for 90 days after that.

If you found a friendly embassy or consulate you might be able to get a single entry non-o visa to visit your child after they have an extension of stay for being her mother's child based upon her mother being on an extension stay.

No.

Your visa situation will not improve unless you marry, or your child has a visa/permit to stay in their own right that you can piggyback.
