UTCC forecasts export downturn in 2019’s second half

BANGKOK, 31 July 2019 (NNT) - The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s Center for International Trade Studies, has forecast Thailand’s total export value will drop for the first time in four years due to the world’s economic slowdown, the sustained trade war and the strong baht. In this year’s first half, Thailand’s combined export value registered a 2.9% drop.

Police involved in Jajua killing ordered out of district

The seven policemen attached to Chiang Mai’s Wiang Haeng Police Station who were involved in the July 23 incident that saw a villager killed by police have been ordered to cease their duties and stay out of the district pending the result of the fact-finding probe, Provincial Police Region 5 deputy commander Pol Maj-General Panudech Boonreung said on Tuesday.

Residents on Rama II Road troubled by 2 years of construction works

Due to construction work, required to upgrade Rama II Road (Highway 35), which began in June and are expected to be completed by 2020, local residents along the route have to cope with worsening traffic congestion and air pollution.

Drunk driver who killed two given suspended sentence

Wealthy Thai businessman Somchai Verojpipat, the Mercedes Benz owner who crashed into the car carrying the Crimes Suppression Division’s deputy police commander in April while drunk, killing the policeman and his wife and seriously injuring the couple’s younger daughter, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined Bt100,000 with the court suspending the jail term.

B20 biodiesel discount to continue two more months: energy minister
