Problems with moving to Cebu.

basically last night I got a phone call from the PH embassy telling me my 1 year visa had been denied. to cut another long story short they told me that the visa had been denied due to some irregularities regarding my finances. I have multiple offshore accounts that i use for my investments and they were not happy with the documents I had submitted. They told me that my only other alternative now would be to apply for a tourist visa if i still wanted to visit.

I have decided against it, and will be staying in phuket till the end of August. at which point I will head back to Nashville before heading down to Colombia. I will be staying in Medellin.

looking forward to mixing with the local chicas down there, ive heard they are hot stuff!! ????

The Phils really don't ask for that much in the way of financial proof, if memory serves...certainly less than 800K baht in Thailand...

You couldn't muster the required PH amount is a simple, straightforward U.S. bank or brokerage account that the PH embassy could follow and accept?

BTW, you also can go simply on their tourist visa, and then extend, extend, extend in country up to, I believe, 3 years before having to leave the country briefly, and then repeat that whole process over again....   It's not anything like the tourist visa for Thailand.

Thanks for the update!  I will be checking out Panama in December...sitting on the fence...waiting to see if Thailand continues to work on making expats feel at home here...????
