AIA Thailand is organising the “AIA Centennial Run” to mark the 100th anniversary of AIA Group and also to reaffirm its commitment to “Healthier, Longer, Better Lives” on November 10 at Bangkok’s Huamark indoor stadium.

Alger Fung, CEO for AIA Thailand, said: “This marks a special occasion for all AIA people as the AIA Group is celebrating its 100th anniversary. For more than 10 decades, AIA has supported people in the Asia-Pacific region to lead healthier and better lives through our different protection products and innovative services. To celebrate the anniversary, a series of yearlong activities will be held in different countries, such as a 100-hour cave expedition, a 100-kilometre hike, relay runs in different countries as well as 100km of walking to name a few.

“Each market will pick up the AIA Centennial baton as a symbol of the 100-year journey. The baton will be travelling across all our markets starting from Cambodia before returning to our headquarters in Hong Kong. The speciality of this baton is that it features life policy No 0001 issued by Cornelius Vander Starr, the founder of AIA, as well as technology to track the steps and distance it will travel. All of the 100 activities in every market aims to contribute to society and encourage people throughout Asia Pacific to live ‘Healthier, Longer, Better Lives’ as our brand promises.”

Aekkaratt Thitimon, chief marketing officer of AIA Thailand, said: “In order to celebrate AIA Group’s 100 years, AIA Thailand has organised many special activities to promote good health all year, mainly through AIA Vitality, which includes sponsoring several running events as well as organising health activities for our customers. We have been holding the AIA Vitality Virtual Run for two consecutive years and it will be included in the 100-year celebration. In this event, runners can determine the route, time, location and distance by themselves. Proceeds will be donated to the international charity Oxfam as well as other organisations in Thailand.

“Our efforts also include the construction of the first-ever AIA school in Thailand, called ‘AIA Border Patrol Police Learning Centre’, in Ubon Ratchathani’s Khemmarat district, which will be officially opened on August 15. In addition to the AIA Centennial Run on November 10, we will also hold the AIA Sharing a Life event for the sixth consecutive hear, as it allows our staff, agents, clients as well as members of the public do good for communities through a variety of activities with the main objective of promoting health and improving the quality of life for people.

“For the Centennial Run, AIA is inviting everybody to come and exercise and do good with us. The running event will be held at Huamark indoor stadium and will be divided into 3, 5 and 10 kilometres. The highlight of this event is that 100 survivors of critical illness will be joining us to motivate people and help them realise the dangers of disease so they start exercising to lead better, healthier lives. The event will also include other health activities such as free health check-ups, free advice from nutritionists, activities with the Fitness First gym as well as a mini-concert from a famous artist.”
