Can anyone help me? I'm having trouble applying online for setv.the photo im supplying of my passport is jpeg and 453kb. Max allowed (0.5gb) but when i select for application it keeps telling me it needs to be jpeg. Which it is.its so frustrating. Im 67 and none too clever with computer jargon. My photo passed but now after trying ten times (dont laugh) they have locked me out. Ive tried phoning embassy in London for help but i dont think anyone works there nobody answers the phone.

You need to compress the photo. I do not know the device and operating system you are using, so cannot provide detailed instructions. Look for an image editing program on your device, and then look for an option like "change compression". The option may only appear when you request saving of the image (use a different name). An uncompressed jpeg file is large, but the quality is almost unchanged with 70% compression which makes the file far smaller.

On a related issue , does anyone know the financial requirements needed to get the SETV now ? They say bank statements should be provided , but what amounts are they looking for ? I e-mailed the consulate in Hull but no reply , also phoned but nobody answers the phone.

I suspect this is all part of making it more difficult/inconvenient to get a TV .

If you are applying in person at the consulate, I suspect no financial proof is needed. London is now bound by the rules of the eVisa system which was originally created for Chinese applicants. As far as I am aware, the UK consulates are currently unaffected.

Can be tricky, not the most user friendly website. I suspect the problem lies elsewhere as 435Kb is rather large for a jpeg of a passport photo of the specified physical dimensions. If you are still having the problem then sent me a PM with the photo and I will send you back a properly sized jpeg. Lock-outs have a time function so you can try again, failing that you need to use a new email address as that is what they use as a unique identifier.
