Vientiane: Anyone do Friday Dropoff, Monday pickup?

Featured Replies

I'd imagine the lines would be a lot shorter because most visa people want to turn over as quick as possible, has that been your experiences? If so I'm thinking of spending an extra couple of days in Vientiane this year so the Friday/Monday option would work out well.

Never again, I'll pay a bit extra for a plane. I'm coming from Pattaya by the way

Yes, not as many people there on Fridays , although with the 200 people maximum per day , there may be 200 people there as usual

The lines will certainly be shorter on a Friday. It is also easier to find appointments for a Friday compared to other days.

why you asked in the first place ?

My customer was there on Friday August 1st. There was only about 20 people and as he saw, no one was refused. On the other hand, the feedback from people that have been submitting on Monday morning and Thursday mornings as visa runners, many are rejected and the embassy is normally fully booked.

Don't forget to do your on-line booking first.. I believe that there is usually a 3-4 week wait to apply for your visa in Vientiane..

You cannot just roll up on a Friday and collect your passport and visa on the Monday unless you have pre-booked your appointment..

It is not always 3 to 4 weeks to get an appointment. Just checked and there are appointments available for non immigrant and tourist visas next week.

So is 200 people on Friday not as many as 200 on the other days?

It sounds like you are referring to being refused for unscheduled walk in service, is that correct. These days you need an appointment booked in advance through their website: https://thaivisavientiane.com/

Or if you were referring to the applicants' visa applications being denied more frequently during weekdays with next day pickup, that would be a VERY interesting trend to note.
