Going to suvvanakhet

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

So I'm going to suvvanakhet next month to apply for a tourist visa (never had one before).

I have 2 exempt stamps stamped in before my non B visa (this as well as my wp were canceled this year march) since then I have collected another 3 exempt stamps.

So I have had 2 before my non B and 3 after so 5 in total.

I wanted to know will I come into trouble at suvvanakhet with regards to applying for a tourist visa?

What happens if they reject me.

Also just incase I've missed anything, what are the requirements for the tourist visa. Anything extra just in case I need to bring?

Cheers

You might, but nobody can say for sure. ????

If rejected, you could try another exempt entry. If you have 2 by land border this year already it´s only flying in that works, but that will be even more uncertain.

So what do you think my chances are?

I have done 2 land border runs already..... So if I get rejected

Will I not get a 30 day transit visa that would allow me back in the country by land in order to leave?

Your chances are impossible to say. My opinion is that they might be slim. Not want to sound negative, but better for you to be prepared and instead be happy, than happy to later get sad.

As you not been having a tourist visa before, that can work in favour for you.

About the 30 day transit visa I am not sure, but I think it will be harder to get that at a land border than at an airport. Don´t take my opinion on that as any facts. Better someone else gets to tell you what goes regarding that option.

Wish you luck, though.

Try to re-enter somewhere besides Suwanapoom Airport. There they seem to be quite serious. Last week, I saw a westerner get pulled away from the line and asked the famous question "What are you doing here in Thailand?" Then escorted somewhere. As I mentioned above, have 20k cash on you. I'd like to add that from what I read too, don't sign any papers if worse comes to worse when coming back.

Hope you can get what you want!

My mate had like four or five visa exemption stamps in his passport and went to Savannakhet to apply for tourist, they accepted his application. Next day, while trying to get his passport back from the consulate, he was told to come in for an interview. He had the sticker of the new tourist visa in his passport already, but they still wanted to talk to him. After an hour long interview, they crossed out “tourist visa” off the sticker and changed it to “transit” which is only 30days.

On the other hand, I’ve done my tourist visa application there August 13th. I had bank statements, flight tickets, hotel bookings, passport copies and so on. In my new passport I had only one tourist visa with extension (spent 89 days, coz I left Thailand a day earlier). Got the next one no problem.

If they had seen my history, four tourist and two years student, probably would have told me to pack up and go elsewhere.
And all those exemptions really didn’t help my friend too.

Soooo, be prepared for anything. Have all kinds of proof and have a plan B.:)

Here’s a pic of tourist/transit situation.
