People will find it easier to pay their traffic fines and other fees online under an agreement between the national police force and Krung Thai Bank.

Pol Maj-General Damrongsak Kittiprapat, assistant to the national police, acting as the force representative, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for fine and fee online payment and e-payment service with KTB.

Damrongsak said the fine payment project would improve e-payment for every traffic fine or online service which is linked to the national police ticket database and the land department database. This project has been under development since 2016 in an effort to create a police ticket management system, that would show the history of fines over the last 90 days as well as the traffic points against those who violated traffic laws.

The fine could be paid through KTB channels such as bank branches, ATMs, KTB apps, and other banking agents under the KTB brand.

Why would the police database get linked to the land department database ??

Because the "land department" is obviously a "wrong spell" for Department of Land Transport (DLT).

And that of course makes sense.

Fine not paid, no tax renewal etc.

Old school.

I paid my only fine in the mailbox at the police station.

And that was big fun with the usual interview (where you from, have Thai wife, speak Thai etc.pp.).

Big grin and laughter.
