Need a visa for temporary stay to sell property in BKK

Featured Replies

Within the next 60 days I will be selling a home in BKK and plan to stay in the house for 2 to 3 months, while taking care of setting up all the requirements for the sale and to support the sale process. I have in the past two months used up my 2 boarder crossing related to this purpose.  Will a METV visa work with one extension, or should I state my purpose, get another type of visa, in case I have to stay longer. Any help and recommendations, and suggestions much appreciated.  Oh, I will be coming from Cambodia where I am a resident.

SETV gives you 60 days, with a possible 30 day extension.

METV gives you even longer time, but it does not look like you need that.

However, If you are going to travel between Cambodia and Thailand during the same time, then an METV can be a good choice as long as you can show the supporting money when applying.

Otherwise you can connect a Multiple Entry to a SETV for an extra fee of 1900 baht.

I don't understand this. 1900 baht sounds like an extension.

Thanks to both of you for the help.  I am not familiar with the METV visa. What are the fees and how much money does the METV require, and how long is it good for?  Also, can I apply at a travel agent in Cambodia.  I got my SETV through a travel agent and it was a piece of cake.

I used the SETV visa last summer and did one extension.  It took most of the day to get the one month extension completed. Is there another way to get the extension or an in person application the only way?

The Thai embassy in Cambodia is just an impossible and chaos ridden place with unhelpful staff.  Went there once with a friend and we could not get any staff member to talk with us.  The place was mobbed.  We just gave up and decide to go to another country. Again your effort is much appreciated. G
