Government spokeswoman apologizes to PM for showing him eating from a plastic container

Government spokeswoman Mrs. Narumon Pinysinwat has apologized to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha for posting an image on social media showing him eating fast food from a plastic container, which drew criticism from many netizens.

The Prime Minister said today (Thursday) that he didn’t know that his food would be served in a plastic container after he boarded a plane for an inspection trip to Phitsanuloke on Wednesday. He said he could not reject the food, but asked those concerned not to serve him food in a plastic or Styrofoam containers again.

Having been made aware of the Prime Minister’s apparent dissatisfaction, Mrs. Narumon admitted that it was her fault for posting the image, saying that she has offered an apology for her unintentional negligence.

Pathetic.................... There are far more important issues to deal with, rather than a silly complaint like this.

It's a proof that he does not stand 100% behind it. If he was a real supporter of denying plastics and foam, he would have denied the food being served to him that way.

It shows him again as a weak politician by blaming the officials and the government spokesmen after realizing he did it wrong.

Sorry, but seems a kind of mute point to me since a lot of the plane is made of plastic and the trip just added to the greenhouse gases !

Apparently his diamond studded 24kt gold bowl was left in his office...

I fail to see how airlines are suppose to serve their food and beverages using any other than this single use, throw away utensils as every added weight/cost of fuel on the airplanes means less passenger and less revenues as reusable utensils are an hygiene and labor concerns......

Single use, throw away is ok, but they can be made of paper. The utensils are obviously more difficult and should probably be real utensils, but then there is the safety issue.

That's right, blame somebody else.

There are many ways he could have handled this; make a joke about it, but no, "not my fault"

But......did he enjoy the food? Was it aroy mak, khup?

Sorry I didn't hide the truth ?   The apology is far worse than the act.  I hate disables, but every once in a while, you have to use them.

You are correct. Priorities here are often dependent on the availability of photo ops and image building. Substance and welfare seemingly is second tier.

It´s all above board. Not to worry.

I thought all this hysteria was the disease of the west. Shame to see Thailand going the same pathetic route

.so true, cant have a terrorist use the blunt unsharpened butter knife to hiijack plane and cause multiple buildings to fall symetrically into their own footprints

Why was it necessary to serve a meal on such a short trip anyway? A nice kai geow moo saap sandwich wrapped in banana leaf would have been amply sufficient.

The man really is an abomination.

It's second tier? It's not even on the list.

Same here the poor family's I try and do a bit for would be happy just to have some food in any container or afford the 10bt bus or shoes to send their kids to school????

Sacre bleu! What a sinful act!

So he is eating like everyone else in the country. Can't eat off of banana leave all of the time.

Time to occupy him and his cronies.

Kindergaden  childish   country !

Proof that Prayut is neither intelligent nor a man of the people.

If he were either of those things he would have turned this into a positive by pretending he was a busy man of the people prepared to eat as others do.

He has shown he is stupid and pompous.

This is both supremely arrogant and sign of a very weak self image. Why for one thing should anyone care of the PM eats plane food off plane containers?

I’m sure he pulls his own socks on, one at a time like mere mortals. And I am sure doesn’t have ‘a personal wiper’ in the loo.

He isn’t a supreme being or diety. Why worry so much about propping up an image. Even the worst case of Kow Towitis should not come for this level of fear of losing status via tableware.

For another thing, I remember a PM wading into a food stall to cook his Pork In Coca Cola himself on tv. He then ate it standing holding plastic plate and plastic chopsticks.

Should have been the usual porcelain...

Not the end of the world was it mi pet.don,t think he would have used his hands.

Perhaps it is he who should be offering an apology to her...
