A Ratchadapisek Criminal Court judge on Wednesday postponed until September 17 the first hearing of testimony in the drug trafficking case against former Thai-Australian singer Prissana or Priscilla “Pookie'' Gemelli, her husband Cholawit Keetatrakul and three alleged accomplices.

The 40-year-old Prissana was arrested in June along with her 49-year-old husband for allegedly selling 5.17 kilograms of ketamine, hidden in 39 ashtrays that were packed in four cardboard boxes, to Taiwanese man Hung Cheng Yi, 28.

After Hung was arrested at a Bangkok hotel a day earlier, he named Chonlawit and Prissana as his suppliers, leading police to search Prissana’s home in Bang Khen district. There they confiscated 98.3 grams of crystal meth, eight meth pills, 10 ecstasy pills, 4 grams of ketamine and 40 grams of marijuana.

The hearing was postponed from September 11 to September 17 to ensure all five defendants were in attendance. The first three defendants – Hung, Cholawit and Prissana – have been detained since their arrest. Two other suspects - Kantorn Kaeokrachang, 28, and girlfriend Tarinee Khaobundit, 27 – were arrested a week later in Surat Thani for allegedly supplying the drugs, and have been granted a bail release and ordered to report to court on September 17.

The lawsuit accuses the five defendants of allegedly conspiring to supply drugs and procure drugs for trafficking from April to June 17 under a drugs network led by the elusive suspect identified as Yung Chin Wang. Hung is alleged to have smuggled the drugs to Taiwan while Chonlawit and Prissana allegedly supplied him with the drugs, which they allegedly procured from Kantorn while Tarinee allegedly aided him in using other people’s bank accounts for related money transactions.

So whats the betting that the two on bail don't appear which means they don't proceed with the case against the other three?

Thai justice in (in)action.
