Legend John Barnes fronts Liverpool support to flood victims

John Barnes, a legend of Liverpool Football Club, has issued a statement on video giving morale support to flood victims in Thailand.

 

In the statement, Barnes said his former club was planning a donation campaign, to be launched soon.

The former England International specifically mentioned the "people of Isaan", referring to residents living in Thailand's Northeast, who have been hardest-hit by seasonal flooding.

I feel for the flood victims and we have family suffering but whats needed is a couple famous people to tell the government to pull its fingers out and get the bill and think about prevention but who hasnt said and heard that before?After all Thais arent really allowed to live anywhere apart from flat and flood land whilst officials can build on government/public/army and forest land which is happening right now behind our house and weve done everything we can to notify the powers that be and so on apart from publicly post such. No one cares!!

Its always very commendable to see volunteers raising to the occasion to help with any disasters. Even more so when they are famous and wealthy. However, as the Thai economy is doing so much better (so they say) than most western countries, then maybe they should act now instead of constantly waiting for a foreign handout. Surely their enormous offshore investments can be used to help their own people.

is it the first flooding in isaan? if not, there is something called prevention, and i think, thailand has the means to do so technically and financially

Unless he is going to personally going to deliver what's collected I would say it will have little chance of arriving at the correct location with this lot running things????
