  • If I had 1,000 baht for every farang male I have heard saying that, I'd be minted ! ????????????????

  • Zero sympathy. All the signs were there. And you certainly didn't give him the money out of love. You were investing.

  • The shoe is on the other foot for a change. lol

Destiny1990, yest many scammers are from Africa.  They are Farangs, which anyone who is not Thai. Don't be so naive to think that there are not European and American scammers, no matter of race.

Errmm.....if I went to the police with my face completely covered would they talk to me?

does that mean, youve lost face? or gained face?

or you have just covered your face

I thought she'd put an 'X' in the no publicity box.

I agree with ChrisKC,  In a state of weakness and desire to help, and many Thai people are eager to help others, regardless of what your experience may be.

How many times you read about this <deleted>. Then you yourself fall victim

Are you that desparate for a man.

Anyone got her facebook?    ????

This kind of scams have been there for quite sometime and have also been busted a few times and is warned by media. Seems like she is online doing romance stuff but forgot the check of what’s going on other side of the world. So it’s her fault for being dull-headedness.

Naive people who are perhaps in a vulnerable time have been cheated by scammers. Unlike some posting here, I sympathise with victims, whether Thai or farang.

He won't be a Farang - he will have posed as one but almost certainly African.

you seem to be almost too well informed.

back in 1998,  lent 1000 baht to a jerk while in Bangkok. I hounded this idiot for 2 weeks to get my money back...always one story after another. I could have hit him over the head easily...but figured the lesson wasnt worth it. thats the last time I have lent money out. doesnt matter where you are...there are leeches everywhere.

Who took her photo, where was the photographer standing, me think a good story, fake news, but a fun read.

What's wrong with the fact that perhaps a third person took the picture? Thais do more than selfies.

Why "fake news"? I see nothing fake about it. This is a common occurrence.

The most laughable part of all this is the gullible few who still think she was lending this money out of the goodness of her heart . Her own greed got her tangled in this deceitful web and nothing else ! She thought she was onto a sure fire winner until it backfired .

payback time b......

This is NOT ok but she better writes off the money; no way of getting a scammer as he, most likely, left Malaysia already.

Having said that, please note however that the ratio of Thai woman cheating Alien Farang is in absolutely no relation to Alien Farang cheating Thai woman. The list is endless and millions of Baht are stolen and cheated out of Alien Farang while you read these lines.

The article stresses how she was "cautious"

and

"still skeptical"

So really, how does anyone who is cautious and skeptical still end up giving away over a million baht to a stranger shes never met?

the mind boggles!

Maybe the article is written a little creatively for sympathy to the girl..

people cant be that stupid??

But she took the bait, and when she lost the 'lottery', she's blaiming someone else for her own stupidity.

And the scamming 'Nigerian' isn't to blame at all?  Jesus...

9 hours ago, Vacuum said:

Well of course. Can't blame herself can she. I would and kept quite about it.

Why would you have kept "quite" [sic] about it?  You've got so much that you could happily write off B1.2m?  Perhaps she isn't quite as well placed as you are.  And, why would anyone in their right mind, who's just been defrauded out of a lot of money, keep "quite" [sic] about it when reporting it to the police would at least give her a chance of getting it back or seeing the crook get some comeuppance?

Scammed by a Nigerian but blames a farang.

She said that she was cautious having heard about Romance Scams but this was different. 55555555

Soon "Christian" - who she believed was an American - said he had to go to Malaysia to sort out a multi million dollar inheritance he had got from his father who was involved in government contracts to build roads in that nation. His father died in 2015, he said......Yep the ordinary Nigerian Scam !!!
