I have been living with friend in Buriram and as there is no immigration office anywhere nearby and there is no chance they registered their house online as it was a last minute thing I know they didn't do a TM30 for me.

I am going to pattaya tomorrow and have booked a hotel, I know they register me with TM30 because I did it there before.

Does anyone know if I will have to pay the 1600b fine on behalf of the buriram friend or will the fact that the hotel did it for me (but only for the day) make up for that fact when I extend my tourist?

You won’t be fined because the hotel make a report.

If your friend doesn’t submit a TM.30 when you return your local office might not issue an extension unless one is made and any fine paid.

I came to Thailand permanently in late 1997 and had a business and lived in a rental in Samui.  If the landlord ever filed a TM30 I don't know.  I dealt with Samui immigration.  I built a house in Nakhon Sawan Province and moved in in 2000 but still had the business in Samui and "commuted" a couple times a month until I sold the business and moved here permanently in 2004.  I changed my address and dealt with Bangkok until they opened the office in Nakhon Sawan.  I have been dealing with Nakhon Sawan since then.  The land/house is in my wife's name and I know that we never filed a TM30 and immigration has never said anything on my previous extensions.  I have to do my yearly extension later this month and with the "crackdown" and the new financial requirements since I can no longer get the income affidavit from the US Embassy it might be interesting. My wife died almost five years ago and I have a court order appointing me as the "sole executor" of her estate.  I'm going to take the land deed and the court order with me to immigration and see what happens.  I certainly am not going to raise the issue.  It's a good thing that it's a one time fine and does not increase each month that you miss after all I guess that I am responsible since I am the executor of her estate and have not transferred the property to another Thai.  I wonder if they will charge me the 2000 baht fine and make me file a TM30?  As I said it could be a day to forget!
