From 24th march Russians can obtain a 30 day stamp on arival for free.

That is good news for them and for the West, because they learn that you get something if you give something. But with a Brazilian passport you get a 90 day stamp and the the Thais vicce versa!

Thats all we need more potless Ivans running around Pattaya.

Indeed. Unlike some, they're considered quality tourists. Which is very much why they now qualify for the 30 day visa exemption.

but this also represents a significant benefit to Thai passport holders

going to Russia because not only will they save on the visa costs

but on the exorbitant " registration " costs which must be paid

every time you arrive at a different destination in Russia. you must

use one of the " registered agents " to do this registration process

on your behalf and it is a license for them to print money ?

With all the security concerns in Russia I don't know what the Thai government

offered the Russians to be able to win this concession ...............

Russia is a member of APEC but it wont even allow any concessions

to APEC cardholders - not even regarding waiving the Visa

registration process which is a real pain !

I don't know what this government is thinking when they pass laws. Pattaya is right now overrun with Russians. The Royal Garden Plaza has even changed signs to Russian. The Russians are arrogant, don't speak a word of Thai, some of us at least those of us that live here can speak a little to get by, and they have no respect for the country they are in. They think they are in playland and can do whatever they want. There was a party of 4 Russians eating in a restaurant near me on my last visit to Pattaya and they were treating the Thai waiter so rudely, it was making me sick.

I have seen behaviour like that also which makes me cringe :o

But I have to say havibg been to Russia a few times they are not all

like that - there are some polite Russians but maybe we have just not

seen any in Pattaya :D

My wife is russian, we want to go to Hanoi (Vietnam) from Bangkok. Does she need a multi-entry visa?

or can she go outside Thailand and back many times before the 30 days expire?

Pls use Point II , Russians can enter the country unlimited times and each time they will be permitted to stay for a period of not exceeding 30 days.

In 2006 150,000 Russians visited the Kingdom of Thailand. There is now an expectation that these numbers will rise considerably. We will all be fluent in Da Da Da.

Funny, 500'000 of them have visited Pattaya, at least that was wat I read in a local Newspaper. Probably counted by the same Waitress who calculated my Bill tonight, 150 + 145 = 325 Baht. It needed 3 more Staff and 5 min. to find the Result :o
