Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has lured world-class MotoGP racers to shoot a short advertising film to promote Thailand’s tourism and culture before the official race this weekend (October 4-6) at the Chang International Circuit in Buri Ram province.

A TAT source said this campaign is a joint effort between the authority and sponsors of the MotoGP event in Thailand, “PTT Thailand Grand Prix 2019”. The sponsors include PTT Oil and Retail Business Plc, AP Honda Co Ltd, Thai Yamaha Motor Co Ltd and the Buriram United International Circuit.

Dorna Sport, which holds the licence rights for MotoGP events, had invited world class MotoGP racers Jorge Lorenzo, a Spanish racer for Repsol Honda team, and Cal Crutchlow, a British racer for LCR Honda team to join with Thailand’s 20-year-old racing star Somkiat Jantra of Asia’s Idemitsu Honda team in shooting the advertising film in Bangkok on Wednesday (October 1).

The film was shot at Mahanakhon Skywalk on the 78th floor of King Power Mahanakhon building to showcase the most outstanding landmark and a landscape view of Bangkok. Forged under the concept of “From Road to Roof”, this ad campaign aims to promote the MotoGP event as well as Thailand’s image as one of the top tourism destinations in Asia.

“As a representative of the host country, I would like to welcome all international racers to the beautiful country of Thailand,” said Somkiat during an interview. “As for the race, I’m confident of winning at least fifth position in the home race round.”

TAT’s source revealed that this advertising video will be broadcast to over 800 million motorsport fans worldwide throughout the MotoGP event this weekend.

All the good riders don't want to waste their time with pathetic Thai advertising. Could only find a washed up ex champion and good old Cal, who is a nice bloke.

Thanks for highlighting TAT's figures are 100% exaggerated. Now everytime I see a figure they produce I will divide by 2... Now things they say makes more sense....

Panic must be setting in !
