Govt. to hold forum on radio and television broadcasting law

The government will be holding a forums to gather public input on radio and television broadcasting law which is part of the government’s media reform effort.

Minister attached to the Office of the Prime Minister, Theerapat Serirangsan revealed that the drafting committee of the law has appointed a subcommittee to hold the forums to hear people’s opinions on 37 issues of the law. The drafting commitee is chaired by Somyod Cheuathai (สมยศ เชื้อไทย) while the subcommittee is chaired by Surat Methikul (สุรัตน์ เมธีกุล).

These issues include the authorization of radio and television broadcasting, production of radio and television programs, media ethics, assessment of program’s quality, and media regulation.

The first forum will take place on March 27th at the Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel in Chiang Mai province.

Mr Theerapat also encourages people to send their opinions to P.O.Box 2, the Government House, Dusit District, Bangkok 10300 or www. bclaw.pdc.go.th.

"Do you want the Thai news reporters to start asking questions and look for opposing views before they blindly air what the poo-yai dribbles from his mouth?"
