BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister has thanked all officials and volunteers who have helped victims of recent floods, urging related agencies to speed up recovery and compensation payments to affected persons.

The Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha thanked officials from government agencies, the police, and the military, as well as private companies and volunteers who assisted flood victims following the violent storms Podul and Kajiki from beginning to end, especially in Ubon Ratchathani where the situation is considered to have been the most severe due to its location downstream.

He confirmed that the situation has started to improve, and praised the governor of Ubon Ratchathani for his initiative in organizing assistance for members of the general public.

The Prime Minister said he has received reports on recovery and rehabilitation activities in many affected districts, including flood water drainage, damage assessments, repairs of damaged houses, temples, and schools, along with electricity and tap water system inspections, and traffic management. All agencies are being called on to speed up the recovery operation to restore affected areas to normalcy as soon as possible, and to provide compensation to affected persons inclusive of all aspects such as damaged housing, damaged farmlands, damaged equipment, and losses of livestock.

He also expressed his concerns regarding debris brought with the flood, including pests, housing structures, appliances, sediment, and hazardous waste, which may be the cause of post-flooding illnesses. All provinces have received orders to take care of this health matter.

And an extra special thank you to himself for his donation. it would be nice to think that 100% of the donations actually reached the flood victims.

You mr PM have a huge Army, why ask for helpers for these problems, activate the 200,000 soldiers to do something positive instead of sitting around collecting their wages. Do not buy ONE submarine, fund all disasters instead.
