Drug smugglers’ use of emergency vehicles a cause for concern, says NCB chief

Drug gangs using rescue vehicles to transport drugs is a source of worry, Niyom Termsrisuk, secretary-general of the Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), said on yesterday (October 11).

 

 

He was reacting after local police arrested two suspects who were using an emergency vehicle to carry some 600,000 amphetamine pills from Thailand’s border to Chiang Mai province. “Some drug smugglers are using emergency cars or ambulances with the emblem of a rescue foundation or a government agency to avoid being checked by officers at checkpoints,” Niyom said.

 

“According to statistics, there have been seven drug cases in which these kinds of vehicles were involved,” he said, adding, “We have arrested 21 culprits and seized 1,351,837 amphetamine pills, 601 kilograms of methamphetamine and 80 kilograms of ketamine.”

 

“These illegal actions will affect the overall facilitation in emergency cases for which ambulances and rescue cars are very necessary,” Niyom said.

 

The NCB police and police at Dok Khamtai district station in Phayao province have caught seven drug smugglers, who used an adapted ambulance-like van to carry a huge amount of amphetamine and methamphetamine.

Drug smugglers will use any means at their disposition because prohibition make it profitable. Game over. 

I recommend the druggies start using air balloons !

Most successful drug smugglers usually don't use any illegal drugs! They are businessman in suit.

There’s only one solution…the relevant committee must recommend (after a suitable amount of mulling) an immediate crackdown on emergencies.

I have noticed that with the proposed decriminalisation of marijuana the hang em high crowd has been silent lately.

No wonder, many of the people who volunteer for this service are simply hooligans who earn something more from the drug barons!

Having seen the state of the emergency vehicles/ hospital transfer vehicles I’m sure it’s not difficult to make your own with few stickers and flashing lights !!

Most of the ones I have seen here in samui are pick ups with cab roof on the back, dodgy boy racer alloy wheels , more stickers visible than paint , lowered suspension , low profile tyres and enough lights for a Xmas display !! The sight of them makes me think if the accident I was didn’t kill me or disable me then being transported to the nearest hospital in one of these would !! 

I suspect a user experiencing withdrawal would consider it an emergency situation.

right in the States you need an E-plate.  here you just go down to Radio Shack and your sorted
