How fussy are the British embassy about little mistakes?

I have applied for UK visas for my Thai wife and her family (sister and mom) and we are staying with my sister in the UK for Christmas.  I am getting my sister to write an invitation letter etc.  Because I am an idiot I put my sister's maiden name (my surname) instead of her married name so it will not match up to the evidence she provides for income etc.  Is this going to be a problem?  Is it worth cancelling the application and starting again?  Or should I just ask her to include a note and maybe her birth certificate with the evidence?  How often are people refused for stuff like this?

How much do they care about where we are staying and the evidence my sister provides?  I have 500K baht in my Thai account that I have a letter from the bank for proving that I can afford to pay for the trip (I have said in their applications that I am paying for it all).

They have not provided biometrics yet so although I have finished the applications and paid for them I can still get a refund and start again.

Cheers,

Westen

A couple of points, it's not "how fussy the British Embassy are about silly mistakes" it's up to the applicant to ensure the supporting evidence matches the details in the application.

The application isn't considered by the British Embassy, the decision is made by directly employed UKVI staff, Entry Clearance Officers, located in Delhi, they receive the application and supporting evidence electronically, and make their decision on whats before them.

From what I can make out from your post your sister in the UK is providing accomodation for the duration of your stay, all she needs to supply is a letter confirming that suitable accomodation is available for you all for the duration of the proposed trip. It doesn't seem like she is providing financial support, so details of her finances wouldn't be required, and the name typo shouldn't be an issue.

You say that your are financing the trip and are supplying bank details to show that's it's affordable, you might like to provide evidence of the source of your funds, you might want to include a short covering letter providing details of the proposed trip, the ties to Thailand and confirming that you are funding the trip.

The most important thing to satisfy the ECO are their reasons to return to Thailand, I'm assuming that you live with your wife here, if so provide evidence of your immigration status here, accomodation any job if you're working and of course your marriage certificate. If your wife works provide evidence of her employment and evidence that she's been given leave for the trip.

Your mother and sister in law should provide details of their ties here, accomodation and any employment etc.
