BANGKOK (NNT) - Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has instructed all sides to be fully prepared to hold the 35th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits next month, as the international community will closely follow the event.

The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the national committee on preparations for the 35th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits. Thailand, as the ASEAN chair this year, will host the event in Bangkok and Nonthaburi from November 2 to 4.

The Prime Minister said today that Thailand has to show that it is ready to hold the summits and that all arrangements have been made. Issues relating to the three pillars of the ASEAN Community, namely the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC), the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), will be closely followed by the international community. Following his recent visit to Japan, many foreign leaders expressed their interest in this event.

Outcomes from the G20 Summit will also be on the agenda at next month’s summits, as there will be meetings between ASEAN member states, trade partners and international organizations.

A total of 13 topics will be discussed at the summits. They include guidelines in preparing for any changes and challenges, regional connectivity and economic development promotion.

The delegates will also discuss the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the replacement of workers with artificial intelligence (AI) and the application of digital technology to strengthen the e-commerce sector.

Other issues will include border management to address transnational crimes and the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Outlook, which promotes cooperation among countries in mainland and maritime areas of the Indo-Pacific region.

Instructions come from on high.

No stuff ups which might make the Chairman look a fool or I will have your heads. I am the only one sufficiently qualified to do that.

Prayut instructed all sides, prepare to get things done my way, and only my way, or get a punch in the mouth.????️‍♀️

"The delegates will also discuss the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the replacement of workers with artificial intelligence (AI) and the application of digital technology to strengthen the e-commerce sector."

Reminds me of the joke about a Vet visiting a pig farm to Artificially Inseminate them. Apparently the farmers wife put a nail on the sty door, for the Vet to hang his trousers on.

Nope, not 'off topic' coz it's about AI....????

Anyway, I'm so glad he's at the helm, steering the country in the right direction....

Btw, how is Steven....?

The summit will conclude with an exclusive gala dinner that is going to culminate in a much-anticipated stage performance during which Thailand's leader will entertain the distinguished guests by crooning some of his most celebrated nationalistic songs as well as reciting a selection of his internationally lauded poems. A simultaneous interpreter will be at hand to help delegates and their entourages fully appreciate the profound messages contained in the lyrics and words. On a more commercial side, a deputy prime minister will set up a table in the foyer to sell second-hand luxury wrist watches at what he promised to be "unbeatable bargain prices".

Oh! Corruption not on the agenda, or will they all have a quiet chuckle about it amongst themselves in the banquet hall?

What has the 34th, 33rd, the 32nd and ones before has ever achieved that we can say that theses meeting are even worth the cost of the electricity being wasted in those '' summits' i wonder?...

"Regional connectivity and economic development promotion" - the joke of 2019!

Look at the incoherent procedure traveling from one ASEAN state to the next one. To keep it simple, compare border crossing procedures, fees and border opening hours from Thailand to Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Myanmar/Burma. What a joke.

Compare it with renting a car in Stockholm/Sweden and drive across Europe and return the car at Lisbon/Portugal - no borders, no bureaucracy and no corruption, overtime fee and other funny little expenses delaying the intra-ASEAN commuting of their own people as well as all the alien form outer space (in other parts of the world called expatriates or tourists/visitors) - go figure.

ASEAN in general and AEC2015 is decades away from anything reasonable once it comes to "regional connectivity".

By the Left,  right,  left, right, left, right,

yes sir.

Good opportunity to show the ASEAN community his outstanding skills.

35th ASEAN Summit

aka ... blah blah blah

This has to be one of the most hilarious international associations in history.

Can anyone point to landmark agreement which is abided by all? Security alliances? Pollution agreements? Financial agreements? Trade agreements that are genuinely honored? Every nation meets than returns home to go about undermining each other.

I do see Malaysian snack food in big c on occasion...

Thais are more than capable of putting on a summit.   The junta is where people feel enormous doubt.
