if I've already spent 6 months in Thailand this year...

Featured Replies

what are my chances of being denied at a (non-Aranyapathet) land border with a tourist visa ?

If you have a valid tourist visa you should have no problems entering at a land border.

Make sure you have 20,000 baht in cash, and return flight + hotel bookings if possible.

The Aran/Poi Pet crossing is about the worst choice of border crossings to use.

I suggest you use a different one.

indeed, that's why i specified a "non-Aran" border.

...But now that i have your ear, might  i beg for some of your knowledge:

if i go through a different cambodian land crossing ( on that note, would you care to recommend one ? )  or a lao border crossing,  what do you estimate are my chances of success with a tourist visa when i've already spent 6 months in thailand this year ?

Any of the crossings to Cambodia are good other than Poi Pet OK. Same for Laos.

From Bangkok the Ban Phu Nam Ron crossing in Kanchanaburi to Myanmar is good and is the nearest crossing to there.

This is good to know. Appreciated.. And just for clarification's sake:   I could reasonably expect  (70 percent or so chance)  success at these border crossings with a tourist visa even if I've already spent 6 months in Thailand this year ?

99% if you have all what they want. And the reason is that there is no 180 days law or whatsoever. I just know ppl getting denied at land crossings, if they don`t have a visa and are on a 3rd exempt, don`t have sufficient cash, flight out the Thailand and stuff like that.

Sure there will be crossing which may start to ask you questions, but if you are prepared, don`t work illegally here, no reason to stress.
