For a single entry Non O visa without financial proof, you can go to several nearby consulates. Two often used are Savannakhet (in Laos) and Ho Chi Minh City (in Vietnam). It may be easiest for you to go to Savannakhet, because you can get a Lao visa on arrival, whereas you need to apply for a Vietnamese visa in advance.

You will need:

  • your original Thai marriage certificate, plus a copy signed by your wife;
  • a copy of your wife's id card signed by your wife;
  • a copy of your wife's housebook (tabien baan) signed by your wife;
  • one visa photo
  • 2000 baht.

The Lao visa on arrival is cheaper if you pay in US dollars. I am not sure if Romanian citizens must pay $30 or $35.

The Non O visa gives you 90 days, which you can extend for a further 60 days, if desired, at your local immigration office on payment of 1,900 baht.

Ohhhh, Thank you so much.

Does it need to be Savannakhet? Vientiane can't? (I'm just looking at flight tickets)

And how fast do they give it to you? Do you apply and get it in the same day?

If you want to go to Vientiane:

  • You need an appointment, which you get using their appointment system.
  • They might want to see financial proof, not sure.
  • You cannot get a multiple entry Non O visa in Vientiane. Looking at your later posts, it seems as though this might be worth doing. The multiple entry Non O (unlimited 90-day entries for one year) costs 5,000 baht in Savannakhet.

To get to Savannakhet, look at fly-ride services on Nok Air and Air Asia to Mukdahan just across the border from Savannakhet.

Whether you apply in Vientiane or Savannakhet, you must apply in the morning of one day, receiving your passport back with visa in the afternoon of the following day.

You wrote " we can both make some decent money, Just need to save a little ".  Can does not mean that you are making decent money.  My advice is to go back home and get a job and earn some money.   And if you are planning to live in Thailand, just how do you plan on making this decent money?

What's the latest on Penang???.. Although years ago I always found easy and used Banana guest house for visa..

For several years, to get a Non O in Penang, you must show financial proof. That is why most no longer use Penang for a Non O based on marriage.

My visa is expiring on 6th and I don't know what to do next.

You could apply for a 60 day extension of stay to visit you wife at a immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

Then after that if you want to stay longer you could go a out for a single or multiple entry non-o visa.

A multiple entry non-o via allows unlimited 90 day entries for a year from the date it is issued.

I had a 15 day Visa on arrival. I had this extended for 7 days more at ChaengWattana (I was there anyway to get my affirmation to marry legalized)

I work as a web developer, already have a few freelance projects going, should have $3-4k coming in this month. The financial part is fine.

You have to leave the country at the end of those 7 day. You cannot extend it.

Best to make a trip out for a non-o visa.
