Line Corp (Thailand) will work with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency to help startups, content creators and users take their work into digital space and create a “smart city ecosystem”.

Line chief executive Phichet Rerkpreecha said this week the company would help improve startups’ potential to “stand strongly on the global stage”.

It will also instruct users in the proper use of social media to try and curb the creation and sharing of fake news, he said.

“And we will encourage skilful content creators to use Line TV and Line Today to develop their own content,” Phichet said.

“We will help create a smart city ecosystem by using the Line application as a gateway to pull massive numbers of people into the government’s public services.

“This cooperation will help the national economy, upgrade the quality of life and push Thailand towards the 4.0 era in a practical way.”

'We will help create a smart city ecosystem by using the Line application as a gateway to pull massive numbers of people into the government’s public services.'

Interesting statement.

Line drives me crazy, far too much updates, far too many stupid functions, annoying ad's, it's for children. I miss ICQ.

Corporate-speak for "We can't wait to get our snouts in the trough?.
