Suchart Pornchaiwisetkul

Department of Employment (DOE) director-general Suchart Pornchaiwisetkul said on Sunday (November 10) that his department is preparing 79,247 jobs for unemployed people nationwide in accordance with Labour Minister’s MR. Chatumongol Sonakul order to monitor unemployment during the economic slowdown and prepare suitable measures.

“The jobs that we have prepared range from vocational level to Bachelor’s degree level,” he said. “The five jobs for which there is the most demand are production workers, sales staff, administration staff, customer service staff, and warehouse staff respectively.”

“From DOE’s statistics, it is evident that personnel in vocational fields are highly sought after in today’s job market,” said Suchart. “Therefore, students should carefully choose the field that can guarantee them a job after graduation instead of choosing general fields where the market is already saturated.”

The Department of Employment has also prepared other measures to tackle the unemployment problem. “Unemployed people can register at any provincial employment office and we will try to match their qualifications with available jobs,” said the director-general. “We are also providing career consulting services, vocational training courses and free advice on how to become self-employed in many businesses.”

To contact DOE for career-related assistance, head to the Employment Office in every province and in 10 Bangkok districts, contact the DOE mobile units or go to www.doe.go.th/smartjob.

I've got about a couple of 1,000 professional hammock testers in my villid.

i think the retail sector could really do with some more zit picking, eyebrow plucking candy crush staff too.

90% of the staff in the big building stores are just trained to lean on a fridge and say sawadee krup as you walk in.ask them where to find a light bulb and they either point you to the bedding section or just walk off leaving you standing there waiting..

for some reason these stores seem to be 75% over staffed with untrained zombies that have probably got degrees from the university of skivving.

Unemployment is down a large part to the ever strengthening baht making it harder for companies to compete and having to lay off staff and in some cases close their doors .

It,s not rocket science is it keith.....but too difficult for the powers that be to understand..or even seriously care about :whistling:

A large percentage of unemployment s foreseen by Neoliberalist ideology, by turbo-capitalism to keep workers under threat, to make them accept absurd working conditions and starvation salaries.

True, many Thais decide to go back to their villages after years of slavery in Bangkok.

Oh good; another 40 people working in each Homepro that don't know anything other than how to get in everyone's way or play with their phone !

No one seems to give a toss about their jobs here.its just a meeting place to have a laugh, keep cool and watch big screen TVs.

once in a blue moon and i Do mean once you get someone actually help you find what your looking for and even point out some of the real promotions.i always think, you should be the manager here but that'll never happen because your too good at your job and doomed to stay on the shop floor for life.

the real question is why on earth have they got so many staff.

What unemployment?? Isn't the official unemployment rate well below 2%? So why bother? In other countries such a low unemployment rate is considered 'full employment'.

Yes! I always thought there was supposed to be virtually NO unemployment in Thailand (according to the wonderful Establishment)!

That represents jobs for approximately 0.0011765% of the population (not workforce). Will this help and how about people, primarily females over 35/40 years of age who are age discriminated against by employers. Long way to go before things improve, if ever.

What unemployed people? I have been severely short staffed for the past 2 months, adverting weekly on all Thai groups and i can not get staff. 7 calls, may be 1 shows up, wearing pajamas and does not even know his/her home address, let alone employment history.

Thai women between the ages of 18 and 35 always have jobs available in Pattayas GoGo bars beer bars and soapies......In some of these places now days I think even up 50 year olds are making a go of it.......

The only problem is who's still going @ those ridiculous prices even more worse with the exchange rates.

Those who didn't care have been made unwelcome and live now a happy life next door.
