PeteUT
Entered Thailand on a non 0-A in August. Issued in USA in late July. I have a chance to go to Lao with some friends in a few days. I don't want to screw up the Non O-A visa, do I need to get a re-entry permit? Did a 90 day a few weeks ago. My concern is triggering the second year of stay

No. If issued in July 2019 it can be used for entry until July 2020. 2 minutes ago, PeteUT said: My concern is triggering the second year of stay You will get a new 1 year stay when re-entering after your trip, and any future entries until July 2020. If you want to maximise the visa you should make a final entry in July 2020, just before the visa expires. Once your visa expires (Post 7/20) you need a Re-entry Permit to protect that final stay. 2

PeteUT
Any reports of Nong Khai mangling stuff like this? I don't want to go that badly, but would if it was not much hassle. I feel safer not intentionally putting myself in fumbling hands. ????

There have also been posts where people given 30 days have been able to return and have their stamps corrected to one-year Permissions. Nothing is 100% sure here!

My question was did the person notice the 30 day stamp before leaving the airport. I suspect it would of been correct it they did. Probably a officer not knowing what the rules are. No much info about it in that 2nd or 3rd hand report on facebook.

I see no reason for you to have a problem. I have seen no reports about anybody having a problem at any border crossing.

PeteUT
Of course, the trip has cancelled. Wasn't worth the trouble for a one day trip, anyway. Thank everyone.

He is within the first 12 months of a Non OA visa, he automatically gets stamped in for 12 months during the first year. He only needs a re entry permit if he leaves just before the expiry date and gets a further 12 months. The re entry permit keeps this date alive. In any case a re entry is not needed. You again have just proved your ignorance I am afraid.

I think the wording should be "may need a reentry permit". I just returned on a 1st year O-A with only the O-A's ME and had no issue getting the full year stamp at DMK. So it is obviously hit and miss. Also, the other important word for several of the recent posters here is "CIVILITY"
