Just Discovered A Professional Bangkok Picture Framer With Reasonable Prices !!!

Hi All,

Not a whole lot in here regarding professional picture framing shops.  I'd purchased a dozen prints online the last time I was in the states and they've been sitting around waiting to be framed.  One post here mentioned the shop on Sukhumvit Road between Phra Khanong and Ekammai, the one next to the driving range which is the one that I had initially gone to on my first attempt to get some frames made.  Beautiful shop, three or four staff, top notch no doubt but they were quoting me between 4,000 and 10,000 baht per poster.  Wasn't so keen on dropping 90,000 baht getting the whole lot framed.  Back under the bed they went.  Finding a good framer is like finding a good apartment, lots of hot, sweaty grunt work that mostly doesn't pay off.  Who wants to be trekking around town with a roll of fragile posters that can easily get damaged when being rolled back up or even ruined if a drop of sweat landed on one of them.  Anyway, girlfriend had a friend come visit her and she recommended this shop to us.  Said it had been around since she was in grade school.  She's forty now.

Long story short I got my thirteen poster framed and the total was 11,300 baht.  I mainly went with the traditional black frame which I guess now the new thing is plastic which looks great.  The guy was very professional, did what he said he was going to do, did it in the time frame agreed upon as well as the agreed upon price and is really a true craftsmen.  He required a deposit of 30% on the first lot and then I paid 50% on the second lot because I had seen the quality of the work.  The mats were cut properly, there wasn't even a finger print on the glass or frames, not dirty finger print smudges on the prints themselves.  Total Professional.  This shop has been around for over 20 years.

Here are the prices I paid for the first lot I had done.  Seven were done with the black plastic frame, two others were different. Silver and Brown (See photos).  All were mounted on Masonite, and included either a bright white or cream colored custom mat cut and a piece of glass, wire wall mount and tape around the back edge to seal it from moisture and dust.  They are delivered in bubble wrap.  He did the nine pieces for me in three days.  My girlfriend has a car so that made it easy getting them home but he said he could deliver them to my place which is near On Nut for around 400 baht.

GETTING THERE  The shop is located right outside an MRT station which is four stops pass Hua Lamphong for reference.  The station you get out on is Itsaraphap (BL32).  Exit at entrance/exit number #1

As you exit the station this is what you'll be seeing.  Walk straight crossing soi 34 there and you can see the building just ahead, on the left side of the street (off white with brown trim) which is a row of shop houses. You'll pass a junk shop with old refrigerators out front as well as a repair shop that specializes in racing motorcycles.  The frame shop is just past those shops, maybe the fifth or sixth shop on that block, between soi 30 and 28.  It's no more than a hundred meters from the MRT station. You can't miss the place.

Several years ago I posted details, including address and phone number here in the BKK forum about an extremely worthwhile charity based in BKK yet operates all over Thailand.

The thread was promptly removed and I was threatened with a ban by a moderator if I posted on the subject any further.
