Hit And Run

Just another pissed up farang driver.

And this maybe one of the main reasons why so many farangs like thailand. So many things they can't do in their own countries.

But I bet she would be bashing the thais for drink drivings, hit and runs on the internet when she is sober.

The people saying you should pay for the repairs are likely just joking?

I don't get the tone of your OP and most of the following posts. People, often in some state of drunkenness, routinely hit things with their vehicles. Then they sometimes react badly when called on their mistakes. Both bad things, but both just a part of life. The nub of this story is not the person's drunk driving or her bad reaction when called on it.

The nub would seem to be that people you trusted helped you out and all involved avoided any risk of a bigger problem. This glass is 3/4 full so no need to focus on the 1/4 empty part.

What are you wittering about?? Who routinely drink drives and crashes? Would you feel that it is bad, but just a part of life, if some drunk driver wiped out a member of your family. Have you ever had to deal with the carnage caused by a drunk driver? Have you ever had to pick up body parts spread over a road, or tell someone that their partner/child won't be coming home ever again, just because of the selfish acts of someone?

The nub of the story is that some irresponsible drunk decided to put others at risk, and jdinasia generously took the decision not to get her done for it.

She is an irresponsible idiot, just like the Thais, or anyone else, who does the same thing.

Why would you bet that she would be on the internet bashing the Thais for the same thing?

I wonder, if it had been a young Thai girl who had done this would the OP bee so proud and gloating as he is now.

Another cheap farang guy in Thailand springs to mind.

LOL ... cheap?

If it had been a young Thai girl that had hit my motorcycle, the only thing that would have changed in the OP would have been the nationality of the offendor :o

<but CHEAP would be whining about not getting a receipt at a sandwich shop>

who cares what nationality the drunk driver is

they shouldn't be on the road at all

report them to the police, not that it results in much sometimes. we got hit by a drunk in his shinu new pickup when my gf was pregant and and were both knocked off the bike. some thai guys near by chased the guy in the pickup but couldn't get him to stop

we spent a horrible night at the hospital worrying that she was going to lose the baby. the police did find out who it was eventually but nothing happened to him

woudl it be ok and still a matter for you guys that think drink driving isn't a big deal if we had lost the baby, or friend of your was killed by a drunk driver??

people that drink and drive are scum pure and simple. it doesn't matter whether you are "just a little drunk" or "wasted" you shouldn't do it but a large % of you think its acceptable, its not its pathetic

I suspect the girl didnt even realize she hit the bike, much like tornado was clueless about hitting that thai guy's car in the other thread. I dont see too many people feeling sorry for the OP in this thread, count me among them

LOL ... thank you to "and the rest" ... but she knew it ... I tapped on her window to stop ... and she wasn't alone in the truck :o

So .... there's the new thread where the scottish drunk guy hit and maimed the garbage collector ... that one more to your liking? Do you scream when the Thai bus drivers do a hit and run? <find the threads and look :D >

JD - professor is just winding you up mate. :o Any rate sounds like its being handled properly - good on the landlord to intervene on your behalf and take care of it. It is bit disconcerting though I agree with lady driving off legless as she would - could have killed someone on the way back to wherever she was going. :D

I don't understand alot ... especially, what point are we meant to extract from this story ? Why/how did the person in the bar "save the day" (as the title states) . Is this because the driver was not charged by the police ? What was the bar person's interest in the matter - to avoid blame as the seller of the drinks, perhaps, or to avoid police visiting for other reasons. OP states he knew the farang girl ... I wonder in what capacity ?

Glad to here you got paid in full.

Maybe a bit off topic but as I posted on another thread my wife was nearly killed by a Thai drunk driver on Friday night. I returned home on Saturday from Singapore to find the wife and four friends in hospital.

Yesterday with the wife out of hospital we went to see the remains of my pick up, how the hel_l she didn't break her neck i just don't know. When the truck fliped in came down ontop of the safety barrier at the side of the expressway and luckly bounced back onto the carriageway and not over ths side!

Any way yesterday I also had to meet the guy who caused this and can not belive what's happening.

He's agreed to take what's left of the pick up off us and pay the balance on it, agreed to pay compensation to all injured parties, and to pay towards the deposit for a new truck.

This is a well educated young Thai who was driving a M3 beemer, speaks english with hardly any trace of accent, so expect he has money or his family do.

What I'm finding difficult to understand is where is the police involvment in this? Is this going to be a case of just because he has the money to pay he'll get away with nearly killing five women?

Just out of curiosity how do all relevant forum members come to the concussion that a person is drunk driving?.

Does anybody no in the Kingdom how do the police come too the concussion if the driver is sober.

Regards

C-sip

They can tell if they are drunk by their driving style, slurred speech, poor spatial co-ordination, glazed eyes and their breath smells of booze.

BTW a qucik google search brought up the following:

Police checkpoints are armed with breath-testing equipment and we would like to remind you that the legal limit blood-alcohol level here in Thailand is 50mg per 100ml of Blood which equates to one glass of wine and one small bottle of beer. (The limit is the same as for the majority of European countries but is less than the UK limit of 80mg)

If you are caught over the legal limit you will spend one night in prison, or you will have to pay 20,000 baht bail. This will be followed by a court appearance.

Ensure that you are carrying your driving license and insurance documents along with ownership papers for your vehicle and most importantly do not drink and drive.

BTW

Somehow new that I’d get a link….that tells it the way it is.

There driving style you mention.

Its hard to talk to a fellow driver if the window is up, let alone look into there glazed eyes, it would take the right kind of forum person to get involved don’t you think.

Poor spatial co-ordination well this must sum it all up then well over half of the Kingdoms drivers must be drunk 24/7.

This included Trucks, Buses, Taxies Tuk tuk.

And of course this includes me but in my defense I was only weaving on the road to avoid the motorcycles on the left, bus tailgating me behind and a road train passing all of us into the oncoming traffic at this particular time officer.

Never have see or been breath tested in the Kingdom plenty of road checks for license, registration, but granted my vehicle has less than one hundred thousand kilometers on it.

I hope they start looking into the possibility on testing if a driver has had too much (Red Bull or M-Roy) flowing through his veins when behind a wheel also.

Last but not least I’m glad your property has been fixed and I bet Draggons happy that his wife and passengers were wearing there seatbelts.

And here I was just believing that you herd about your motorbike getting hit ‘through the Bar owner’.

Between 1am and 2am sounds funny ‘don’t you think’?

Next time rustle up a couple of friends bikes with some previous damaged on them, throw the threesome together and make real cash cow out of her.

Cheers

Great Idea .... except I happened to be awake ... the motorcycle crunching made enough noise to wake up my landlord next door ... and the paint from the truck was on the bike :D

have you read your avatar today? :o
