These stats are being massaged, I know one person that is currently lying in a bed clinically brain dead waiting for her family members to arrive in order to give permission to "switch off" life support. Yet another very sad case of drunk drivers and the collateral damage is that one man will be widowed, one kid will be without a mother and 2 parents loose a child! Not to mention the countless other friends and family that loose someone close to them!

The daily stats do not include deaths that occur later in hospital. There is no way that can be done on a day-by-day reporting basis for obvious reasons.

The official government annual road death statistics also do not include deaths that occurred later in hospital. There is nothing really wrong with that; it is just the simplistic way that they do it.

The WHO annual figures do, however, include an estimate of the number of accident victims who died over the next 30 days after the accident. This is the bring the numbers in accord with international norms.

To estimate the number of road deaths according to international norms, just double the reported number. Then you will be close.

In any case, the person that you know who is brain dead is not yet officially deceased.

"The official government annual road death statistics also do not include deaths that occurred later in hospital. "

Not true, just a myth being perpetuated on TVF.

Yes, sad. But how could she be included in the numbers when she is not dead?

No mention of any accidents in Rawai them ambulances are up and down all day, so what is it a false alarm?

8 recorded accidents in Muang district. Rawai is in Munag district.
