WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. Justice Department inquiry into Republican allegations of misconduct at the department and the FBI, including its handling of investigations related to 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, effectively ended without tangible results, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.

Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions appointed https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-justice-sessions/u-s-prosecutor-reviewing-republican-complaints-against-fbi-sessions-idUSKBN1H535L John Huber, Utah's top federal prosecutor, to look into matters including allegations that the FBI had not fully pursued possible corruption cases at the Clinton Foundation and during her tenure as U.S. Secretary of State, when the federal government allowed the sale of a company called Uranium One, the Post reported.

The assignment has ended, but no official notice has been sent to the Justice Department or to lawmakers, the Washington Post reported washingtonpost.com/national-security/justice-dept-winds-down-clinton-related-inquiry-once-championed-by-trump-it-found-nothing-of-consequence/2020/01/09/ca83932e-32f9-11ea-a053-dc6d944ba776_story.html. Current and former law enforcement officials said they had not expected the probe to uncover anything, according to the newspaper.

A Justice Department spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In 2017, Republican lawmakers opened https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-uraniumone/republicans-press-u-s-russia-uranium-deal-probe-despite-no-wrongdoing-findings-idUSKBN1DG02X a congressional investigation into the 2010 sale of Uranium One, a Canadian company that owned 20 percent of U.S. uranium supplies, to a Russian government firm.

President Donald Trump, a Republican, had called for an investigation into the Uranium One sale, which required approval by the U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), though five congressional inquiries had already found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Trump, Republican lawmakers and right-wing media have charged that Clinton masterminded the sale's approval in exchange for donations to her family's Clinton Foundation charity.

Huber had been awaiting the completion of a separate Justice Department review conducted by the department's inspector general, Michael Horowitz.

In a report published in December, Horowitz concluded that the FBI had made numerous mistakes but found no evidence of political bias by the bureau when it opened an investigation into contacts between Trump's presidential campaign and Russia in 2016.

Huber was also initially assigned with looking into any possible missteps the FBI took when it sought a warrant to conduct surveillance on a former adviser to Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, Carter Page, but he had ceded that portion of his inquiry to a different federal prosecutor, John Durham.

First sentence correct. Everything else wrong. Outstanding.

Except, of course, that any export of uranium ore  would have to be approved by the US government. And it's not like Russia has a shortage of uranium reserves:

"With 487,200t of known recoverable uranium resources by 2011 estimates, Russia is the world’s third richest uranium country. The country produced 3,135t of uranium in 2013 becoming the sixth biggest uranium producing country after Kazakhstan, Canada, Australia, Niger, and Namibia."

"In October 2017, following a report by John F. Solomon and Alison Spann published in The Hill and citing anonymous sources,[37][38] the Republican-controlled House Intelligence Committee opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the sale of Uranium One.[35] The Hill story insinuated payments from Russians to the Clinton Foundation at the time when the Obama administration approved the sale of Uranium One to Rosatom.[39] The story also focused on the alleged failures of the Department of Justice to investigate and report on the controversy, suggesting a cover-up.

If the name "John Solomon" sounds familiar, that's because he's the same journalist still pushing the phony Biden-Burisma "scandal"

So, as usual, another baseless trump claim.

Since you haven't got any facts to back you up, you go to motive instead. Any more cheap shots in store?

Are you really that uninformed or just pretending? All the <deleted> about Russia, nothing came of it. Now jumped on this and clutching at any other straws that can be grasped.

Pelosi was Shakespearean in "the lady doth protest too much" when driveling on about being a good Catholic (whatever that is) in reply to being asked if she hated Trump. Whereas when she read the impeachment vote results she could hardly contain her pleasure. The contempt for Trump shown by Schiff is even greater than his contempt for justice.

What facts of you got - none as usual?

Anybody who is actually familiar with the Mueller report knows that Mueller specifically said his investigation did not absolve Trump of obstruction of justice. He noted that Justice Dept. rules don't allow a President to be indicted. Mueller did note that there is another venue venue to follow up on this evidence. The only venue I know of is Congress. The Republicans put the kibosh on that and those allegedly vengeful Democrats haven't followed it up.

And in the current situation considerably more evidence has emerged. Including the fact that 91 minutes after Trump's conversation with Zelensky, a hold was put on military aid to the Ukraine.

But the fact is that by going to motive, you don't have to deal with the facts.

I read somewhere that DoJ indictments are being issued in the matter of millions of $ of foreign aid being illegally channeled to Clinton and other top democrats for their campaign funds.

Is that fake news or is it happening?

That you read this somewhere says alot about where you get your information from.

Then why is trump so angry about losing the popular vote. Why is he so angry that russia tried to help him win.

And the tvf warriors go on about the corruption in Thailand.

Five Congressional investigations and now Trump’s investigation found no wrong doing.

This is a fairly comprehensive mischaracterisation of what actually happened. Firstly, Uranium One didn't own "20% of US uranium supplies," it owned around 20% of US Uranium production capacity. Secondly, Uranium One wasn't sold "to a Russian Government firm," - a Russian Government firm was allowed to buy a 51% controlling majority of the shares.

No uranium was sold to Russia. Any sale or export of uranium from the US has to be approved by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. There were two uranium production facilities involved and as part of the deal, it was stipulated that, "no uranium produced at either facility may be exported."

The NRC has since that time, further stated that, "... no Uranium One, Inc.-produced uranium has been shipped directly to Russia and the U.S. Government has not authorized any country to re-transfer U.S. uranium to Russia."

And you know it was weapons grade uranium, how? There's a huge difference between reactor grade & weapons grade uranium.

Facts about Uranium One

And there's more. The State Department is one of only 9 departments that had a say in the Uranium One deal. What's more, it's not even the lead pepartment. I believe that honor goes to the Treasury Dept. Not only that, there's absolutely no evidence that Clinton was even involved in those deliberations. This kind of thing is typically handled by lower level people. The whole thing was baseless from the beginning.

Uh oh that deflection dident work out so well for Donald and his minions lol I predict a major tweet storm tantrum and heated phone calls to bill Barr lol
