I went to see the eye doctor at Rutnin Hospital they checked by eyes as i'm having a problem with my vision i paid 910 THB however they didn't find anything however they said if want to find out what happened for my eyes i would need to do a blood test which they quoted 6,000 THB.

KIndly provide other names and places in bangkok for other hospitals or clinics as 6,000 thb is to expensive. Kindly advise how much you spent to see the Ophthalmologist.

In OpticLand on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 29 works an ophthalmologist. He checked my eyes for free a couple of days ago.

They have my glasses in that shop for years and I think they are very professional.

I can recommend the ophthalmologist and the shop in general. I think he works there every day staring about 10am.

I think you mean "optician". You should learn the difference between an "optician" or "optometrist" and an "ophthalmologist". The latter is a hospital consultant who specialises in DISEASES of the eyes, whereas the former two check and correct defects in your visual acuity. (Yes, an optometrist can in some cases detect possible eye abnormalities that would then be referred to an ophthalmologist, but the optometrist/optician cannot treat them.)

I get your point and it is obviously important.

I go to that place since a couple of years and until now I always talked to the boss, who is optician. On my last visit he introduced me to a "new" guy and he introduced him with a title similar to ophthalmologist. This is why I posted this here. But considering your point maybe he introduced him as an optometrist and over the last week that somehow changed in my brain to ophthalmologist when I read this post.... So probably he is an optometrist. I feel myself corrected.

But even after this I guess a visit won't hurt because he might be smart enough to see if another specialist should be consulted.

An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor, not a hospital consultant. There are ophthalmologists that have their own clinic. Use google maps and search on the term. One such example is here: 30,32 ถ.เจริญนคร (ปากซอยเจริญนคร 54) ตรงข้ามคอนโดศุภาลัย ริเวอร์ รีสอร์ท สำเหร่ ธนบุรี Bangkok 10600

no scleral buckle, they lasered the tear, and i had to lie down on my front for about a month, only allowed to sit up for meals, it was about 80,000thb but was about 8/9 years ago, that included everything and a vip suite for 1 or 2 nights, my travel insurance picked up the bill, Bangkok hospital rayong were around 140,000thb, i found the treatment, staff and food to be good, staff spoke little English, but my wife stayed the whole time, the doctor spoke very good English and often traveled to USA for work related trips, i would not hesitate to recommend the doc or the hospital

Dr. Paradon at St Louis hospital in Surasak is an ophthalmologist who has his own clinic. He gives a thorough eye examination and gives you a script for your eyes.

He doesn’t sell the eyeglasses, you have to go elsewhere.  I’ve used Zennioptical for years with no problem.
