Any United States ???????? military veterans? I have a question about a VA medical appointment that I will probably need soon?

Hello I am a retired 100% disabled Army veteran of 21 years. I have a question that I don’t want to discuss in the open forum about a medical appointment I might have to schedule. So can I please ask any REAL US VETERANS some questions about VA medical appointments in private? I have a few procedural questions about how the VA does it that I want to ask in private because it’s not TRICARE this time it’ll be a VA appointment. It’s weird because all of my disabilities are considered permanent and total except for two which don’t add up to much anyway which are of course the ones they want to evaluate plus I retired in August 2014 so 5 years my rating is protected plus they wouldn’t really be able to change my rating anyway because I have SEVERAL severe disabilities that are permanent and total. And it would not effect my pay anyway so it doesn’t make sense especially after 5 and a half years. The VA said it’s routine via email well, not VA VES who schedules appointments. Any real veterans here in Thailand experience this? I’d love to hear any real stories like what I explained.

All my combined ratings that are permanent and total are still in excess of 100% Disability I know for a fact. So it’s Weird.

I meant procedural questions about who the VA does scheduling appointments here in Thailand specifically. Korat Thailand to be exact.

Just questions about how it works and how the VA schedules appointments within Thailand and what to expect. Just little questions like that. I’m already dealing with TRICARE over a back surgery I need as it is.

I gotta call the VA and try to arrange scheduling for here in Korat on Monday preferably Tuesday so if any veterans here in Thailand can please tell me what to expect who may have experienced this I’d appreciate it. Thanks

TRICARE always goes with Bangkok Hospital but I’ve never dealt with the VA for medical since I med boarded when I retired in August 2014. So my guess is it’ll be here in Korat as usual but do any veterans know about how the VA does appointments here? Thanks

In fact let’s also use this topic to put together a veterans group on ThaiVisa and maybe I will join the VFW here. So all veterans please feel free to post under this topic. And I’d really like to talk to any veterans on here who knows about my questions above. Thanks I will periodically check this topic.

Calling all United States  military veterans.

Oh and if there’s already a veteran group preferably a Facebook veteran group for veterans here in Thailand, please let me know and include me. I’ve spoken to a few veterans here over the years about that but unfortunately I forgot the information they gave me.

I see this was moved to home country forum but I’m curious about how the VA schedules appointments here in Korat Thailand if any veterans here in Thailand ???????? know. Not TRICARE I’m asking about the VA, I already know how TRICARE works. I’m gonna call tomorrow anyway but trying to find out what to expect. Probably nothing because I think it’s an error as I’m rated permanent and total.

I’ll call tomorrow or Tuesday I retired in August 2014 and they never asked for anything like this before and my disabilities are mostly permanent and total that adds up to over 200%. Plus after 5 years your rating is protected. Normally they don’t do appointments like this for if your rating is protected especially after 5 years especially since I have a 100% permanent and total disability rating. Could be a mistake or something new because the VES guy on the phone kept saying that it’s routine but no not after 5 years for a protected permanent and total disability rating. But I’ll be calling tomorrow or Tuesday. My 100% rating is permanent and total so it doesn’t make sense.

You should contact your local VFW Post, which is Post 10217 in Korat, Thailand. The Service Officer can help you. Contact him at Email: [email protected]

Or you can contact the Service officer from Bangkok VFW Post 9951. Contact form can be found here:

Thanks I’ll do that to. I was planning on calling them in the States originally because I got some obscure email from VES asking about my personal information for scheduling VA appointments. I’ve been retired since August 2014. I wonder if calling them here is better? I guess the VFW can act as a representative I’ll call them as well.

Actually good idea I’ll email them before I call them in the States probably Tuesday night maybe they can help. I suspect it’s a mistake because I’ve been retired more than 5 years and I am permanent and total 100%. So my disability rating is protected.

I sent them an email and explained so I’ll wait and see what they say first before I call the VA. But I definitely won’t wait to call the VA past Tuesday. Thanks

Ok well I confirmed why they haven’t got back to me yet they were having a meeting at the Korat Hotel at 10AM this morning every second Monday of the month. I looked them up and confirmed the information you provided me is all accurate so I appreciate that thank you. I took screenshots of their website they’re probably still in the meeting so I probably won’t hear anything till late this afternoon or tomorrow at the earliest I’m guessing. But thank you so much for the information I should have joined the VFW a long time ago I’m an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran with multiple tours and other parts of the world as well. I was a career Soldier. If you’re a member you’re probably at the same meeting right now, so I’ll stand by for a day at least. But I don’t want to wait too long to call the VA.

I think I ran into some of you guys at the Oasis restaurant a few years ago. But today I never drink anymore because I can’t run anymore so I’ll get fat if I don’t seriously diet myself. I might have a few still VERY occasionally plus you can’t mix it with medication. I was drinking Beer Lao that night at the Oasis though, I think that was 2017, and I’ve rarely even had so much as a beer since because I just can’t drink much at all anymore. I really am disabled.

I will try and make your next meeting in February second Monday of the month but in the meantime if they could please get back to me as soon as they have a chance I’d appreciate it I’ve already emailed them at the email address you gave me. I don’t want to wait past Tuesday or Wednesday to call the VA, but I want to wait and talk to him at the local VFW first. So again thanks for the information.

If you talk to him today please let him know that someone in Korat a career Army veteran sent him about 4 very important emails with a few questions, thanks for your assistance I appreciate it.

I’m sorry tell him I sent him 12 emails because I also CC’d him on a few emails to and from the VA or rather the VES contractors after I sent him my initial introduction email. I want to wait till I hear from the VFW first before I call the VA but I don’t want to wait past Tuesday or Wednesday night though. But I’ll wait a day or two for him to have a chance to review my information. Thanks again.

Sir, do you know approximately how long it takes them to reply to emails? I emailed him yesterday and Sunday and I know they were in a meeting yesterday too bad I didn’t know till it was too late otherwise I would have gone.

But I did send him a lot of my personal information to review so I understand if it takes him a day or two to respond especially after their VFW meeting yesterday. Although I would really like to call the VA NLT tomorrow on Wednesday night if possible, I don’t want to wait to long to take care of it, but I really want to at least talk to the local Korat VFW first and maybe they can help me more or even represent me if I’m lucky. If I don’t hear anything by tomorrow I’ll probably call Wednesday night anyway because I might wait till Friday but I really don’t want to keep them waiting past Wednesday.

thanks if you could please pass this message on for me I’d appreciate it I assume you’re a member of the VFW? I appreciate the information either way.

And I sent a follow up email today as well I’d like to talk to the VFW first before the VA. If possible so hopefully NLT Friday. Tonight or tomorrow would be ok if possible for the VFW in Korat.

I don’t know how urgent it is it might turn out to be nothing hopefully! So I hope to hear from the VFW soon I already sent him an email. Thanks again
