Cheap International Calls From A Thailand Mobile Blackberry Phone

Hi

Someone told me it is possible to make reasonable cheap international calls to europe, (say ireland in my case and sometimes USA) from a Thai mobile....

I am very backward on techincal stuff... so apologies if this seems a dumb question...

As I mentioned in another post, I spend alot of time in Thailand, and I work remote into Ireland, however I do not want my customers to know that. It is a bit of a life style thing, if I can get the winter out here, and I use VOIP irirsh company for internet calls, skype as a back up, however I am very busy right now and stuck in the office all week from 1pm to over midnight... and also if I sneak an odd afternoon off....thats usually the day there is a big mess up, so I am running back and forth to net cafe near beach which has crap quality skype....and the customer complains about the quality.

Now If I could get a Thai moble phone, which is a black berry that would allow me to get my .ie emails in, have voicemail on there (thats for messages from people in thailand who might call my thai cell re another very small venture I am involved in), and then I could check my ireland emails coming from my .ie email address on the blackberry, and then if I need to call some one..... (biz call would be anywhere from 2 - 5 mins) , I would block my thai caller number id, so customer does not know I am calling from a thai phone, and then call back at a low rate of 6 - 8 bhat a minute.....or what ever it is.

Now how do I find or get this solution. and can anyone recommend where I can buy one.

for example.... do I need to buy the blackberry off the phone company, or do I buy that at a mobile cell phone shop and then get a SIM card from a mobile phone company.... that will cater to backberry, with voice mail, and does that include a cheap low cost international number, or yet again is that a seperate phone card or call card I need to buy???

I am very confused where to start.... so I hope someone on here can give me the info or some advice or recommend a good shop. (I think too I have to put in girlfirends name too...though I do have a Business Visa and a Thai Work permit so I am legally working here).

any ideas?

I get around this problem with a wifi enabled mobile phone and make sure that when i go out that i can access a wifi network of which there are many in and around Bangkok. The wifi capability enables you to get e mail and if you are on a window mobile 5 mobile you can also use skype.

You can buy a local phone without a contract and install a Thai sim card. I think that you can do this without the G/F as ou have a work permit.

When you dial an international number use the prefix 009 then country code then the number which will put you on the VOIP network and its cheap.

I hope this helps,

Cheers Rick
