Study on smart city in EEC close to completion

The Office of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) is close to finishing the study on developing the “smart city” project in Chachoengsao province.

 

The office secretary-general, Kanit Sangsubhan, said that a group of private investors from China are keen to bid for the contract to develop the smart city in the province where they want to develop a financial centre.

 

He added that the development of the smart city will be on a Public-Private Partnership basis.

 

Recently Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak urged the EEC office to accelerate the development of mega-projects in the corridor as part of the government's policy to lift the softening economy.

Got to ask. Why is getting close to finishing a study cause for a press release, let alone a news item? Is this such a rare occurrence? Just finish it and give us the results and the inevitable conclusion.

Because then they can establish a committee to review the findings and potentially order another study!

The Chinese will bring in their own people-exceptions will be made, same as the high speed rail

Correct.  This is early days.  We will be reading news blurbs on this for years to come.  For reference, see the high-speed train project to U-Tapao.  I'm expecting another news blurb on it any day now--likely something to the effect that it has passed another hurdle and is just waiting to hear from some shaman on what year is the most desirable for construction to begin, after a committee has reviewed the shaman's findings, which may call for further study depending on the findings of the committee.

No need for rasing education standards. Chinese will come on smart visa. No WP and 90-day required.  Chinese Wives will be able to work without WP.
