Thailand’s PM assures coronavirus situation is “100% under control”

 

 

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has assured the public that the novel coronavirus situation in Thailand is “100% under control” and that he will personally take charge of overseeing the operations of all related agencies to deal with the virus, as well as the PM2.5 dust pollution.

 

Despite the success, he said that there was no room for carelessness or complacency, as he urged members of the public to take care of their health and cooperate fully with the authorities in preventing or containing the spread of the virus, noting that the disease is preventable if close contact with those thought to be infected is avoided.

 

In a nation-wide address, broadcast via the Thai TV Pool, the Prime Minister said that Thailand is fully-equipped to cope with novel coronavirus, citing the recent rating by Johns Hopkins, which put Thailand 6th out of 195 countries for having effective early warning and preventive systems to cope with an outbreak of a communicable disease.

 

He disclosed that the Public Health Ministry has already upgraded its readiness, in line with the situation, and has mobilized all resources available to be posted at various locations, including air and sea ports and border crossings, to screen tourist arrivals, especially those from China.

Not a fan of that translation. While of course new, it's hardly novel. Though indeed it'd be extremely novel if a certain section of the senate managed to acquire it.

And the standard response was......……???? Yes.

No country has this under control, apart from North Korea, who have closed their border with China and cancelled flights. Flights From Wuhan have landed all over the World, with contagious people on board showing no signs of ill health.

Pity thailand not 100% in control of this idiot Junta disease and the corruption virus .
Corruption seems be spreading faster than the chinese wuhan flu and is worse than even peak of he we will not mention times .

Dear, oh dear - these words will haunt him if he manages to live through what's coming.

 

This is classic hubris.

Well that does it for me. Today will go into full on panic mode and stock up on boxes of canned food, rice, new giant cooking gas and a few gerrycans of petrol. Maybe some cartons of cigarettes too, to use as currency when it all goes pear shaped.

Won't be long.  The found the cure for the SARS virus within days but wouldn't give it to the world

Time to be worried folk, if Prayut says it is 100% under control, once again his is bul++iting.

Why does he make stupid comments like that, as he knows like everybody else it is not under control.

After reading his statement of 100% control of the close to being a pandemic, I believe now, as the Iron Maiden songs says, "Run to the Hills", "Run for your Lives".  Nothing good ever comes from a Politicians statement that all is under control......

I don´t know what is most painful and dangerous. Getting the coronavirus or reading about this man?

And how on earth can he know this? And will he step down if this thing gets worse here? 

Maybe he could share with us and all world leaders how Thailand has it “100% under control.” That way the problem will disappear immediately. He should be working at the CDC with skills like this. 

He has never lied. Pollution is under control, Road accidents is under control, corruption, etc. 

Best government ever. The world should learn from his examples and maybe we can stop this virus today with a song?

I think what he meant was "the number of infected that we are reporting is 100 percent under our control." It's now official, virus numbers in Thailand will have just about as much legitimacy as those from TAT.

There isnt an outbreak here in Thailand so objectively speaking "everything under control" seems a pretty fair statement.

When any government tells you they have something 100% under control that is your indicator that it's time to stock up on food and ammo.

I honestly don't think anyone believes him..... that includes all the dribble not only this virus one.
