Question re selling scooter

Featured Replies

Hello, did a search on the forum but no joy.

Can anyone tell me what documents I need to give my friend who I'm selling my scooter to so he can go and register it in his name? I've given him the green (blue?) book but that's it. Is there a form I need to sign or anything?

Many Thanks,

FC

It depends if you are going to go to the Department of Land Transport with him.

If you are going to the DLT with him, all you need is your passport as proof of ID.

If he is going to the DLT without you, you will need to provide him with:

- A Power of Attorney letter which permits him to make the transfer.

- A Transfer request form

- Signed colour copy of your passport.

He [your friend] will need an Affirmation of Residence letter (proof of address) to register the Motorcycle in his name.

You may also be misled that you also need an Affirmation of Residence letter, but this is not required for selling a vehicle (not at the DLT in Bangkok where I have sold a motorcycle and car in the past 2 years) without actually attending the DLT myself.
