A 34-year-old Thai man has accused workers at a massage shop in Bangkok's Lat Phrao-Wang Hin area of threatening to detain him after he refused to pay for what he said was an unfulfilled sexual service.

The man took his complaint to the non-profit organisation Saimai Survive, saying he wanted to warn other customers after the dispute at the shop. The owner and masseuses named in his account have not publicly responded.

Dispute over 600 baht

The man said he had used the shop several times previously without trouble, normally paying 400 baht for a one-hour massage.

On his latest visit, he said a masseuse suggested a "special massage", a term commonly used for intimate services involving sexual activity. She reportedly quoted 1,000 baht, which he said he negotiated down to 600 baht.

According to his account, he arrived at about 9pm. The masseuse entered the treatment room at about 9.03pm and stopped the session at around 9.40pm.

He alleged that she briefly touched his private area before telling him the session was over. The man said he believed he had been deceived because the service he expected had not been provided.

Payment refused

When the masseuse requested the agreed 600 baht, he refused and instead offered the usual 400-baht rate for a standard massage.

He claimed three masseuses then approached him and demanded the full payment, allegedly threatening to keep him at the shop until he paid. The man said he pretended to be an influential person in the area, after which the women accepted 400 baht and allowed him to leave.

The man did not say whether he had filed a police complaint. It is also unclear whether anyone will face charges, as offering sexual services is illegal in Thailand.

The complainant said he went public because he feared other customers could face similar treatment.

The Police see these as Contractual Agreements between to consenting adults. Not a criminal activity.

Every once in a while for theatrics they may arrest and charge a Thai but this stuff happens all the time all throughout Thailand.

If this were to go to court he would be told that he's fabricating his story as that type of activity simply doesn't happen in Thailand. Accusations such as this tarnish the image of Thailand.

There is a general assumption he finished too fast. Maybe. But he's claiming he didn't get the extra service as far I can tell. So maybe he got a 'massage' in that area for a couple of minutes but no 'response' so the massuese said massage was finished?

Is likely embarrassed that he finished in 3 minutes and unwilling to admit such. To call the police over something like this is just beyond inane.

I have to reread the article cause I don’t see where it said that he ejaculated so quickly and said that she barely touched him and then she said the session was over so obviously there was some deception there I wish you would take it to court I’d like to hear what the judge would say as an example what do you mean there’s no prostitution in Thailand TIT

Usually extras are quoted separately from the massage. That means 400 plus 600 for extra. At least this would be my understanding. Anyway, too much negotiating is not a good idea.

Lesson learned? You can negotiate the price. However when I was single I’d do the opposite. I give them a bit more. In return I’m guaranteed a good job. Good customers get a better service.

You can’t make this stuff up. Only in Thailand could a man allegedly pay 600 baht for a “special massage,” which on the face of it is an illegal act under Thai law, decide he didn’t get enough specialness for his money, refuse to pay the agreed price, and then publicly file what amounts to a customer-service complaint, turning it into a full-blown media spectacle about the quality, or lack thereof, of said illicit service. The fact that a dispute over less than US$20 could become a news story in its own right is almost as surreal as the transaction itself. At that price, the real mystery isn’t why he was disappointed; it’s how he developed such spectacularly high self-righteous expectations in the first place. For all we know, the poor muppet couldn’t even, below the waist, rise to his side of the bargain, so the overworked and underpaid masseuse simply threw in the towel after a few minutes of his failure to perform… literally.

So over 600bht doing something illegal he blows it up in the mainstream media and tells everyone !

Not counting the special extras, he was short changed for the one hour 400 baht massage as well, which I assume was an oil massage. He only received 37 minutes instead of the usual hour. Still nothing I would go public about.

Could the massage lady make a counter claim for deflation, sorry, defamation?
