Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Friday (January 31) forecast cool to cold weather in the Northeast, East and Central region with minimum temperatures ranging from 10-18 degrees Celsius.

The high-pressure area covering the Northeast, the East, the Central and the South China Sea would lower temperatures by 1-2°C.

Meanwhile, the stronger easterly winds across the South would bring more rain to the region.

In the central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the prevailing easterly winds would help decrease dust/smog. In the North, light winds in the morning would increase accumulation of dust/smog.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Cool to cold weather with fog in the morning; temperature lows of 10-18°C and highs of 29-35°C. Temperature likely to drop to 2-12°C on hilltops with frost in some areas.

Northeastern region: Cool to cold weather; lows of 14-17°C, highs of 28-34°C. Temperature likely to drop to 6-11°C on hilltops.

Central region: Cool weather in the morning; lows of 19-22°C, highs of 34-35°C Celsius.

Eastern region: Cool weather in the morning and isolated rains in 10 per cent of the area; lows of 22-23°C, highs of 32-35°C; waves a metre high.

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 21-24°C, highs of 31-34°C; waves a metre high.

Southern region (west coast): Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 10 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 22-24°C, highs of 31-35°C; waves a metre high.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Cool weather in the morning; temperature lows of 22-23°C, highs of 33-35°C.
