Would appreciate any help.......

Plan to cancel my work visa/extension and change to extension based on marriage. Going to cancel the work extension 2 weeks before it actually expires, on recommendation from CW immigration who say it can be done within 21 days of expiry date, to allow for process to change to marriage extension. Question is: about the work permit. Immigration at Chaengwattana 'kind of' indicated, by gesturing and saying vaguely 'You don't worry', that I DIDN'T have to cancel the work permit at the same time and I could (or perhaps 'should') deal with that later. (I should say in fairness btw that they were very nice and tried to be helpful.) But the immigration in Korat, where I'll be applying for the marriage extension, 'seem' to need me to cancel the work permit at the same time (again, vague...lone girl 'Volunteer' at front desk besieged by loads of Monday morning applicants, with me desperately trying to understand the little bits of info she threw at me in the chaos). So before I go to the Labour dept in Bangkok to ask them (which I'm dreading and is also very inconvenient) I thought I would see if anybody out there can clue me in. I can't seem to find the answers elsewhere online. Ready to tear out few remaining clumps of hair and may be completely bald by the end of the week. Help!

I can't see Korat immigration having any complaints or problems about your work permit since the cancelation of your extension would of already been done at Chaeng Wattana immigration.

I think they were telling you what they would want if you had an extension issued by them and wanted to cancel it.

That's interesting, ubonjoe. Thanks for that! I do think you might be right.

And if they did insist that wp should be cancelled, then worst thing would be (I assume!) is that I have to drive back to Bkk and cancel it, before they accept my application.

Again, thanks a lot. Really appreciate it.
