Thai Lion Air has extended until February 10 its campaign to evacuate more Thais in China amid the virus epidemic.

Thai Lion Air’s chief executive officer, Atsawin Yangkiratiwon, said that his airline has been cooperating with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul in bringing Thai people in China who wish to return to Thailand during the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

“The campaign is called ‘Fly them back home’. It was initially scheduled from February 5 through 8, completely free of charge,” he said. “However, we realise that the schedule is too tight; many Thais in China are still not aware of this campaign, therefore we decided to extend the deadline to February 10.”

Passengers will be given a thorough examination as determined by the airline as it "cooperates with government agencies on the matter”, the company said. Passengers who are interested and want to register for a free return must be Thai nationals possessing a Thai passport. They should not have any history of travelling to Wuhan city, the epicentre of the new coronavirus outbreak.

Those interested in registering can contact +66 2529 9955 (6am-11.59pm Thai local time) or e-mail [email protected]. Passengers need to register 24 hours before departure; the final deadline for registration will be February 9, 11.59pm.

Interesting.

Where is this story in Thai?  A Thai friend's job in Macao has been lost because of the virus.  Will Lion Air bring her home from there?

In a world full of greed where money is god, such incentives are good to read and gives hope that all is not rotted by lust and cupidity.

Sadly, I don’t think that Macau is considered as part of China in this respect.

Very commendable.
