Thailand's Immigration Bureau chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang gave details of two cases that his teams have resolved. "Big Oud" was speaking at IB HQ in Suan Phlu, Bangkok.

One involved a Jordanian national in Soi Nana, Sukhumvit, preying on tourists and the other was the arrest of 25 Cambodians who entered Thailand illegally.

In the first case Ali Fatehi T.M., 24, was arrested on January 29th. The Jordanian had come back to Thailand after a previous arrest.

Sompong said he was involved in "mafia" activities extorting money from tourists at 1,000 baht to 2,000 baht a time. He claimed to have connections with the Thai police.

He was charged with illegal entry and will be deported.

In the other case 25 Cambodians were found crammed in a Toyota Hilux Hero being driven by Sompong Saen-ongart, 45.

The Cambodians had all entered Thailand illegally through a natural land area.

Driver Sompong said he had been hired by "A" for 1,500 baht and would get an extra 100 baht for the successful delivery of each person to work places in Chonburi and Bangkok.

The Cambodians said they had paid 5,000 baht each to have work and passage arranged for them.

The arrest occurred on the Chachoengsao to Kabinburi road on January 27th.

This is a job that is reserved for all the taxi drivers in Soi Nana as well as the Thai mafia. What did this Jordanian really think? That he would get away with it?

Will Thai driver Sompong be charged with human trafficking?

Why dose he need a microphone to talk to 4 or 5 people in the photo?

Perhaps his records were not transferred yet and the system was not in place when he was last charged?

Yes, he could be. You should know about the defamation laws in Thailand.
