Piyabutr Saengkanokkul

A move by Future Forward Party (FFP) secretary-general Piyabutr Saengkanokkul on establishing a commission to prevent another coup in the future was rejected by the House of Representatives.

A vote on the motion saw 242 members of the House of Representatives opposing it while 215 supported the idea and two did not vote.

Before the vote, Piyabutr said that the motion would not affect the existing government led by Prayut Chan-o-cha but the censure debate was what the government had to worry about.

He also said that he might be debating in the house for the last time since FFP faces a Constitutional Court ruling on February 21 on disbanding of the party. He said the motion would be an agenda for the nation, not the opposition or the government.

The opposition led by FFP yesterday said in the debate that coups had been obstacles in Thailand’s development.

They also asked House Speaker Chuan Leekpai to vote in support of the motion to show that he did not support coups. However, the house speaker did not vote.

Yet again, the FFP come out with ideas to help progress Thailand into the modern world with a way to try and avoid having yet another military coup in the future (Thailand has the most in modern history). As usual, people in power want to keep Thailand ran in a similar way to the Roman Empire about 2000 years ago.

Such a shame these guys will most likely be gone today. They are the only people in Thai politics I have seen over recent years that have any idea about how to improve and address the previous wrongdoings of a developing nation.

A coup is sometimes tolerable... it's when they don't return the country to the people that's the problem.

Many of us hate those times where the average Thai gets taken advantage of.  This is one of those times.  Favoring the armed take over of an elected government.  That is brain dead normal for the Thai elites.

South Korea doesn't need a coup.  They handled malfeasance in the courts.

This is one of the reasons why Thailand will continue to be passed up by other countries.

What legislation could prevent a coup? Maybe  FFP expected this result but now future coup is possible and the clan asked for it.

There's a game being played out. Currently it's musical chairs and the FFP have lost their's. As a parting shot they've issued a warning to the Thai people of the games that are being played. I can't say much but the serious games are about to start and the big dogs haven't even entered the arena yet.
