I am looking for information in ragard to severance pay upon completion of a contract.

The only information I can find is for termination without reason. Is there still severance pay if I do not renew my contract and leave the company peacefully (not terminated)?

Is this applicable as an educator in a private school as well?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I am having some issues with my current employer and I am debating seeking legal action or just leaving quietly.

The definition of severance pay is...

”an amount paid to an employee upon dismissal or discharge from employment.“

-Oxford English Dictionary.

Do you mean if you decide not to renew your contract?

Get nothing if you leave voluntarily.

If you're having issues, best to stick it out while you can.

You're liable to get severance if you're fired,

but not if you're let go within your probation period.

Thank you. And sorry I didn't know the formal definition ????. In my previous experience, they had used it in terms of either party "severing" ties with the other. If it was an amicable split, then the employee received a good will package, more or less. This was in another country. My boss (the owner) tried to hide his contempt for that law as much as he could.

Then as the other posters have stated, you are entitled to nothing.

After several terms of extensions the employment will

be regarded same as permanent, friend of mine got full severance payment after 2x5 years completed and couldn't agree on terms for further employment - was even approved by the court
