Looking for some info regarding this crossing along with some visa questions if anyone has done recently.

Does this crossing still close at 1700 each day as posted in the general info?

Once into Cambodia, can either a "Tourist" or "Business" visa be readily obtained and if possible the going charges for these visa's which often have a habit of varying somewhat?

To save any hassles at the border, does the Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok issue Business Visa's?

If so, is this easy to do with a reasonable turn-around?

Thankyou in anticipation of some useful advice.

Not to sure of hours of operation but I thought a sign said 8pm closing time last week.

They will probably ask you which visa you want, tourist is supposed to be $20 but they ask (read demand 1200 baht) business is supposed to be $25 so bank on at least 1500baht. Its all pretty straight forward, just depends on how many are waiting.

Very early or just after 10pm are probably the best times as the tourists who are going on to Snookyville on the ferry or bus,s have gone through , unlike Poipet there dont seem to be heaps of Thais going in to the casino.

Dont bother with the touts who tell you they will get you through quicker,it isnt that slow anyway ,just carry your own bags,go to the Thai office and get stamped out then walk through about 75metres to the Cambodian office on the left

There you enter a small office in the middle of the buildingand get your Cambo stamp, (here is where they ask you which visa you want)you come back out and go to the window next door, (back toward the border) give them your passport, smile at the camera, in a couple of minutes your on your way.

cars and motodops are plentiful to get you to Koh Kong, bargain hard and if you take a car get a price including toll and dont let the drivers mates aboard as the toll is per passenger in the vehicle and they like to take their mates at your expense and of course backup to help talk you into things you dont want to do.

Oh ,and dont let them talk you into changing baht to riel, you dont need it as Koh Kong uses baht and you will end up with riel in your change anyway.

If your going on to Snookyville its all US $,s so get plenty of $1 notes for transport etc.

Thanks for the good reply.

Just still wondering if to save any mucking around or over-charging at the border, it is easy and quick to get a Business Visa for Cambodia in BKK.

The only problem with getting a business visa at the Cambo Embassy is that you are supposed to have letters of invitation and introduction from somebody of position in the Cambodian hierarchy, the border does not enforce this rule but the Embassy might.
