Major Thai banks like Siam Commercial Bank, Kasikornbank, Bangkok Bank and Krungthai Bank have issued strict measures for the operation of their branches in response to the Covid-19 situation.

Some of them have prohibited their staff from travelling to 11 high-risk countries, including South Korea and China. In necessary cases, some banks have allowed their staff to travel abroad, but they must stay in their houses for 14 days after returning.

Kasikornbank has installed thermoscan cameras since Friday (February 28), at the entrance to its four main branches in Bangkok, and will bar entry to anyone with a body temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher.

In addition, several banks have issued remedial measures for their customers at this time, such as deferral or suspension of payment.

Thai Military Bank and Bank of Ayudhya have lowered their instalment rates to their credit customers. Meanwhile Kasikornbank is offering Covid-19 insurance free of charge to its mobile banking customers with a financial limit within Bt100,000.

More proactive than the governments around the world!

Can't think of a more likely vector for any virus than banknotes and coins, constantly being passed from hand to hand.

Except, of course, that which has been laundered. . .

that's confusing... in one hand the government keeps saying all is under control on the other hand banks are taking proactive measures

Time to launder some cash
