iainiain101
I am about to have my first child with my Thai girlfriend. I am over here for a month and have brought my original birth certificate with me and am a Brtish citizen, resident and tax payer. Is it possible to register / get a passport for the baby in Chiang Mai? I am not sure I will have enough time to send my passport to Bangkok when the baby is born, as I will be at the end of my visa, plus will need to go back to the UK for work. My girlfriend and baby will then travel to the UK when the baby is old enough to fly, probably with her on her second VV, as she wants to be back for Christmas in Chiang Mai, as do I! Thans for any help. Iain
Mahout Angrit
All applications for passports to the consulate in Chiang Mai are fowarded to Bangkok for processing but they probably only need to verify your status in Chaing Mai and not send your passport to Bangkok. Give them a call or pop in at British Consulate in Chiang Mai
the scouser
Iain, The qualifications for British citizenship are laid out in a pinned thread at the top of this sub-forum. Have a read of that just to make sure your child will indeed be British. Then you can go about applying for a British birth certificate and passport. Scouse.
